Broken Skinfinish

I have never dropped my Skinfinish and while applying it today, it just cracked and a layer fell on the floor.

Does anyone have any remedies? Has this happened to anyone else?

ouch... well, for powder products is the alcohol method: crush the product to dust, and mix it with enough 96% alcohol to make a thick paste. put it back in the pot and let it rest. after 1-2 days all the alcohol is gone and the product is as good as new.

BUT the skinfinish have a different texture, and I'm not sure this will work with them as wel. I suggest you put the remaining in a sifterjar, and use it like that.

I really have no experience, but my MAC SA told me to never put alcohol on the skinfinishes, but water works great on them. Maybe you could try water to kind of 'paste' it back together? After the water evaporates, it's the same as before.

Usually I just buy those sifters with screw top lids from Sephora and put any bigger broken products into there.
I have bad luck with face powders and end up just dropping them sometimes!:l
I bought an extra sifter after hearing how delicate the skinfinishes are. Let me know if you need it!

It took everything in me not to pass out. It bothers me because I've only had it for a week and a half. The temp. in my apartment has been inconsistent this week (from very warm & humid to very cold), so I'm pretty sure that weakened the pack.

When these came out, my fav MAC m/a warned me that they were really delicate. Some of their stock has cracked in shipping. And lots came back as returns because the tops cracked off, its probably not your fault.

I carefully scraped the top layer off mine to give to my friend as a sample. It didn't seem to harm mine, and she said the powder worked just great for her (enough to make her buy it) I'd just put it into a container and use it as a loose powder. Because these are made from minerals, I wouldn't try alcohol. It might change the texture and colour. Try the loose powder. Hope it's salvageable.

I would put a little bit of water in it and bake it somehow, since thats how they are originally made, and the reason they are expensive...they're baked and if you could do that without harming the container id venture to say it would be the best remedy. Good luck

Why is it so crucial that skinfinishes stay intact? Can't you just use the broken product as if you would a broken eyeshadow? As long as you can get the product on your brush would the results not be the same?

I'm sort of new to make-up and was terrible with loose powder. Solid forms just seem more easier to work with. But, now I don't have much of a choice. No biggie. I was just disappointed to see my new SF on the floor.

Sorry about the broken skinfinish!

If you don't mind me asking (I didn't want to create another topic) which skinfinish would you guys recommend for light/pale-ish skin?
