Bronzers vs "Bronzers"

Do you prefer products marketed as "bronzers," i.e. Laguna, Hoola, etc. or prefer choosing regular powders as to custom choose your own bronzer? I've used and loved hoola, but its a lot of money. Laguna is really nice, but too much shimmer for me. Also, it's a pain to find a bronzer that goes with my skintone. I've found it a lot cheaper to use just a darker color powder as a bronzer as a means to help find one that suits your every need. Does anyone else do this or am I just weird haha! Just wonderin'! 8)

You're not weird at all! I use bronzers, but cheap ones. My current love right now is the powder bronzer from Milani. At around $3.00 it's no biggie to have a bronzer and a separate blush. Maybe one day I'll invest in an expensive bronzer....eh, maybe not. I don't see the point. Most bronzers are too much for me, and have too much shimmer or sparkle. I like matte finishes.

Yes, you are weird but that's irrelevant to this post!

I love Nars laguna and I couldn't live without it but to answer your question, yes I know of people who use a darker powder instead of a bronzer. I know a few that use light brown blush as a bronzer too.

Well, I actually use Format blush as a bronzer. The MAC bronzers weren't dark enough for me. When I went to MAC to buy it and told them what I would be using it for they looked at me like I was crazy. I just found out a few weeks ago that one of the MAs that was helping me uses it as a bronzer as well.

Haha, thanks ladies! I think maybe a difference would be that things labeled as bronzers perhaps are less pigmented, but I'm not sure. It doesn't have to be labeled as a bronzer for you to use it as one

i used to use bronzer all the time...actual bronzer, but it was cheap drugstore stuff. now if i ever want the sunkissed look, i just use some loose face powder in a couple shades darker than translucent and it works for me
