Withour sounding like a dirty clueless person how often do you all wash your brushes??? i bought a 190 brush for my studio fix fluid and i more or less need to wash it every day to get the best application. At the mo i use baby shampoo but didn't know whether to buy the mac brush cleanser , is the brush cleanser stuff you use in water or is it a spray. Thanks xxxx

I was going to ask this same question! Now that I have quality brushes I want to take care of them, but I don't have the time to clean them all the time and wait for them to dry. I don't want to be a greaseball though.

brush cleanser is good for a daily, quick cleanse, with the baby shampoo deep cleanse being done regularly depending on what the brush is used for.

generally, for personal use brushes, you want to deep cleanse:
weekly for brushes used for foundation, concealer or any cream products
fortnightly-monthly for brushes used for powder products.

Enkore makeup on youtube has a great tutorial for cleaning brushes (and his own recipe for brush cleanser).

I used to use the MAC brush cleanser, but it's not very good, IMO. It never got all the makeup out of my brushes. The brushes also took ages to dry, which just added to my dislike of that stuff.

I switched to Cinema Secrets, and I swear by that now. I clean my face brushes two or three times a week, and my eye brushes three or four times a week, unless it's an eyeliner brush, in which case I clean it after every use. Cinema Secrets thoroughly cleans, conditions, and disinfects the brushes, and most brushes will dry in minutes. My denser face brushes take about 30 minutes, though.

I hear Japonesque has a good brush cleanser, too. I think that one's a spray.

I use the MAC brush cleanser every day to clean my brushes (sometimes I'll skip a couple brushed just used for light eyeshadow or face powder), and then I'll wash all of my brushes every week or two with shampoo. Seems to work well! But I agree, the MAC brush cleanser never does get everything out of the brush.

If you add 99% iso alcohol, you'll extend the life of your brush cleaner. You could do 50/50.

I've always used the MAC Brush cleaner, but wonder if anyone can suggest another brand that works well? My daughter and I seem to go through it fairly quick and I thought there might be something else I might be able to use that is a bit more reasonable. Thanks!
