Can anyone tell me what they think of this find at the MAC counter?

I love MAC, but am not up to date on all of the color collections from the past, so forgive me if this is a stupid question.

Today I went to check out the Northern Light MSF and when I swatched it, it was very shimmery and not what I expected. I checked the name and it said "Shimpagne." I vaguely remembered hearing about it but thought it was discontinued. I asked the girl and she said they brought out the Shimpagne because they had a few hanging around and only had one left of the Northern Light.

So, I bought two of them. Are these easy to track down? Because if so, I think I'll return one.

TIA for your opinions! Please forgive this very casual MAC user (the only MSFs I'm really familiar with are Stereo Rose, Pleasureflush and New Vegas). I only recognize color stories from Barbie Loves MAC and beyond.

shimpagne is limited edition, but it was not discontinued. we have alot left at my counter (they were re-released on feb. 8, a week before barbie and before that in july '06. we've had them since the '06 launch). you can still find them at locations, depending on how well they sold.

if you think you'll use it alot, keep the second one. no need to return it just to have it damaged out, and then have you want to buy it again, only then to have it discontinued.

you'll just have to chance it either way i guess.

Yeah, I'm surprised that there are still MSF that old hanging around counters, but I have found lots of long gone LE and d/c items at some counters. Anyway, if you don't want the second, I agree that there is no point in returning it, but the better thing to do would be to swap it. Either way, great find.

Great find! I love Shimpagne!
The counter I go to rarely sells out of anything. They had sweetiecake things till november then they sent it back. They have msf from last june and other rare "wanted" items.

Keep it for later or swap it! You may regret it if you get rid of it because ebay sellers have no qualms about price gouging for LE, DC and even just plain PRO items - you will pay an arm and leg for it later, save yourself the grief and the $$ and hang on to it for later

Yeah, I don't really understand that, starting at high bids for products that aren't rare, or even discontinued. And yet you know someone is buying it.

Thanks, everyone. The reason I was thinking of returning it is because I rarely use up any makeup. But if it was really rare, then I thought maybe I should get another one (I think this is the Pleasureflush syndrome). I just got carried away.

All the same, I'll hang onto it. You never know - maybe it'll become a staple and I'll actually use up the first one (something that hasn't happened with a cosmetic product for me since 1997).
