Can I Get a Quick Rec On a Contour?

I've just started thinking that I should begin learning how to contour my cheeks, both for myself and future clients. Can I get a recommendation on a good product to contour with? Here's my picture so you have an idea of my skintone... I'm pretty pale.

I use Urban Decay Surreal Skin Mineral Makeup in Illusion as Foundation.

I appreciate any suggestions you have.

I would have never thought to use an e/s!! What do you use as a brush? I was going to get an angled blush brush.

For the most part I use my 168SE, or this cheapo Essence of beauty angled blush brush and they both work fine.

Then I buff it out a little with a kabuki and blend it with my blush color slightly.

I know, I never would have thought to use an eyeshadow either but it works! You could also use Emote blush too.

I'd suggest Mac's Prism or Strada blushes. I use Emote, but it's LE. I use my 168 with it.

I'd recommend Strada, which is what I use. It's really buildable, which I like. I use the angled brush for it. I can't remember which one it is. Where I want it most defined, I use Wedge with the 217. Wedge is also great to contour your nose with

I use Emote (which you might be able to find one of in the Clearance Bin or at a CCO if you have access to one), but if I ever run out I'll probably check out MAC PRO for their sculpting powder in the lightest shade.

I have slightly darker skin than you and I've been using the Medium, natural MSF to contour as of late, and I LOVE it. SO blendable. You might want to try it in one of the lighter shades.

I put on a little extra when I got home (so it may look a little heavy hehe), and I'm also wearing MSF in Petticoat which I picked up (man it's beautiful!). I also used a fluffy brush to contour my nose.

I just wanted to say THANK YOU for the recommendation. Both the artist AND I were shocked by how perfect Wedge was for a contour. I do think I will need a better brush. She used a contour brush but I'm not sure what if I will be able to find something comparable... I used an angled blush brush but I feel like it was too large and her brush was much more controlled.

It looks really good!

As far as brushes go.. I have an Essence of Beauty angled brush, as I mentioned in my first post that works very well and is a lot cheaper than MAC:

Product Detail: Essence Of Beauty Angle Powder Brush from CVS/pharmacy Online Product Store

Its not as soft and fluffy as the 168 but I think that's better for what I'm using it for. I can get a fairly precise application when I only swipe the narrowest part of the brush into the contour color (..if that makes sense). The bristles are pretty densely packed which is good, but it's easy to over-apply so I just build it up in very thin layers, and then buff it out with a softer brush around the edges.

edit: its kind of hard to see the actual size of it with that pic, so i'll try to post a pic of mine with something to compare it to in the near future

LOL girl that's actually the exact brush I have and used! I just really loved the brush my artist used.... Man I can't remember what brush it was... It was 32 bucks... It was much smaller and no where near as stiff as the essence brush... but of course not fluffy like a blush brush... I'll try that tomorrow tho, just using the very narrow part. I'll have to see if I can find a similar brush... I LOVED it.
