Canadian MAC Cheaper for US Residents!

So I'm planning to take a trip to the States on Monday to do a little shopping at the Carousel Center (its about a 3 hour drive from me) in Syracuse. I was looking to price differences and while everything is a lot cheaper at MAC...when you do the rate conversion its actually MORE expensive for me to buy any MAC in the states!!!

So if you live near the border and are planning a big haul (it works out to about $1 less per $20) head up to Canada where your US dollar is skyrocketting!!

You have to factor in the sales taxes.
If you're not gonna bother asking to get the taxes refunded, then it might not be worth it.
Here in Québec, there's a 1st sales tax of 5% and then another one of 7.5%.

Hope this is helpful.

The last time I did a rate conversion, the Canadian prices (pre-tax) were just slightly more expensive than US prices. But yeah then there's tax, or price of gas if you drive down to the states to buy it. For such an insignificant price difference, I'd rather buy my MAC in Canada.

On the other hand, we don't have any CCOs here so I will have to trek down to the States someday...

Yeah there's no point in going to Macy's or something to buy regular MAC. But if you go to the CCO in Niagara Falls you can get some cool things (like from past collections) for cheap.
I went to the CCO and got a skinfinish for 17US, uhhhhh Matte for 12$.. can't remember what else.. oh yes a lipglass for 10$ i think it was worth it and there was so much selection.

Not MAC, but when i was in NY I got a the Stila step out and shine clutch with products for 50$ USD, it was 75$ CAD. My moiturizer is like 20$ more in canada... so sephora is REALLY worth it imo. Some companies only charge a buck or 2 more, but some go crazy and mark things up 5-20$.

CCO's are so worth it! I went to one around Tampa and got; a blush, a shadow and a fluidline for like 30$. It was awesome.

Its like that with us here too at the moment (UK). This time last year the exchange rate was amazing, everything was half price basically. Now, if you convert prices from the US MAC site to UK it works out the same price, but then you take into account that there is sales tax in the US, so actually it works out cheaper here!
