Cat vs. Dog

Mods, I don't know if this needed to be here or in Deep thoghts.

It all happened yesterday...

I was helping my nana move into my mom's house yesterday, took most of the day.
My mom has 2 dogs, a Pharaoh Hound & a pit/lab mix. Sweestest dogs ever!
She also has 2 cats. A 16-year-old Himalayan, Mittens & a 6-year-old tabby, Chevelle.
Anyways...short story short something snapped and the dogs attatcked the Himalayan. My mom and I drove to an emergency vet as fast as we could go. Sadly, on the way...she died. They could recessitate her, but honesltly, I don't have $500 laying around & that's not including her injurys. So, we just let her go.
The vet told me what her injury's were, to TBH I just can't remember or want to. She will be creamated and her ashes will spread over the Sierra-Nevadas.

RIP Mittens....

aww I'm sorry to hear about that. that is hard because you love the offender as well, they are both your pets, makes it hard to handle....my german shepherd killed our siamese two years ago on thanksgiving. I remember the day because I remember the vet bill! Now we have to be very careful, and we just keep him apart from the other three cats (one is over 18). He doesn't actively seek them out or try to get them, but we just don't want to risk that again.

Ahhhh thats so said....I had to put my Dog Rocky to sleep last year ....the injuries outweighed the vet cost and the vet said that he didn't feel even after several operations it would prolong his life much. I was sad because he stayed at my Mom's house and he has been in the family for so long ....We also had him cremated...and we buried his ashes out in my Mom's backyard where he loved to play...so I told my parents they can never move.

Sometimes you have to make the right decision for both you and the pet for the long run even though it's hard when you want to do all you can, but financially it's not possible.

I am sad that Mittens had to die that way but I am sure it was merely a freak accident and hopefully the other cat will be okay.

I am so sorry to hear this. I wonder what caused the dogs to attack her? That is so horrible.

I am so, so sorry, sending you hugs.

That is so sad.
I hope the dog doesn't do that again to the other cat or even another animal =(

I give you props for at least getting the cat to the vet. Many others wouldn't do that...

RIP Mittens

I'm so sorry. I recently lost one of my cats, I spent $1800 trying to save her.
I still have 1 cat, sigh.

Thanks everyone for all your love & support.

My mom is still taking it pretty hard. But, we are thinking about the happy times with Mittens.
