CCBs and Eyeshadow

So yesterday I was using my finger to layer Vellum over Fucshia Perfect. After I put in on I put my finger back in the pot to get some more shadow and ever since I noticed that there is a kind of pastey layer on the shadow. I am guessing the CCB mixed in and created it. So how can I prevent this in the future. Even if I was using a brush if I had to go back into the shadow again wouldn't this still happen?

Wipe your finger/brush before going back to the e/s. Baby wipes work great. For the brush Sephora makes brush cleaner wipes.
