What do ya mean base? Can you buy bases at Walmart or anything because I've never saw them. What's a base for?

a base is something you use before you put on eyeshadow (e/s) it makes the e/s 'pop' more. the best base to use is something that isn't oil based or else your e/s will crease up quickly.

Do they say "base" on them? and Do they come in any certain color?

a base is like "prepping" your lid for eyeshadow application. bases make colors brighter, stick better to the lid, last longer, and best of all, it doesn't make your eyeshadows crease. chapstick can be used as a base, but don't get it in your eye cause it's not eyesafe. you could also use foundation as a base, as well. however, there are better bases out there - l'oreal sells a thing called "decrease" which comes in a little tube - that's an excellent eyeshadow base. you can find it at walgreens or target or CVS or walmart...practically any place that sells l'oreal products.

if you want to spend $13+ on a base, i highly recommend urban decay's eyeshadow primer potion. that stuff is a GODSEND. or MAC paints, which come in a variety of colors. that stuff is a godsend, too.

no. some bases do come in certain colors, such as MAC paints. they have standard nude/skin tone colors, but they also come in pinks, purples, mauves, silvers, blacks, golds, greens, etc. i have only one MAC paint, which is bare canvas - it's a nude, skin tonned color with almost no shimmer. this stuff works really well. the "sticks" that mel0622 was talking about *may* come in different colors, but i'm not sure.

Like Xiahe said, UD's Primer Potion works well, as do MAC Paints or Shadesticks, but some people use regular drugstore cream eyeshadows that match the eyeshadow they plan to use. They usually crease, but they're a cheaper option. L'Oreal also makes De-Crease meant to be used as an eyeshadow base, but I've never used it so I don't know how well it works.

I wouldn't recommend using chap stick though, since it isn't proven safe to be used on eyes.

The L'Oreal De-Crease works pretty good, I've used it, but I'm now sold on Paints!
Of course, I haven't tried the UD Primer Potion everyone here raves about, and I'll probably get some eventually based on the ton of recommendations here at Specktra!

You can even use Wet N Wild creme eyeshadows as a base to make your e/s last longer. They're only like a buck a piece. Just try to use a light/neutral color, or a color that's close to the shadow you will put over it.

I've used the L'Oreal one before. It was cool. I've been using FyEye for a long time by benefit. It's 20 bucks, and it's worked well for me. I think I'm ready to try something else though. Everybody is always raving about UD's PP.

I have never used chapstick as a base, but I have heard of people using it. Can you tell me the pros and cons of using it. I have tried shadesticks and my eyeshadow STILL creases.

Thanks in advance.

As eyeshadow base???

Use MAC Paints! there's been a ton of comments/posts about this subject. I vote for the Paint because I've high-heat & sweat tested it last summer and my eyeshadow stayed on till I took it off the next evening. Other people like Urban Decay primer potion
