chemically straightening + bleach ?!

my hair is bleached right now.

it started off as dark brown, and it's highlights are nearly platinum blonde now, if that tells you anything about how much bleach is in it haha.

i want to get my hair straightened. i know you're not supposed to when your hair is bleached, but i'm thinking of doing it anyway because it really needs to be done.

so. my first question is: does anyone know what chemically straightening your hair does to it if it's already bleached? does it just make it look sticklike, or does it make it fall out?

annnd...if i dye my hair back to brown [so it will still be bleached, but the bleach will be covered by dye] will it still ruin my hair?

I think it dpeends on how your hair is now, if its brittle or frial loking then you def dont want to chemically striaghten it, it will become stiff. I used to bleacxh my whole head (YIKES) to a platnum blonde and flat iron it, so i wias murdering my hair slowly, fianlly i decided to go to a pro and asked abotu chem striaghtening and she said NO WAY, your hair will fall out!! so know its a dark brown/black and im likin it, its also shroter. By dying your highlights darker your depositing color instead of stripping it so its a little better, except dying hair is a little damaging no matter what. i would personally wait ot get it chem striaghtned, but then agian i dont know how your hair is personally

thanks for your advice ;D

my hair is actually pretty healthy for being bleached so much, the guy that does it is amazing. but it's not brittle at all or anything, so i was wondering if it would still be a problem doing the chem straightening.

Most likely not. It may dry your hair out a little, but you can always use hair masks and deep conditioner after. If you had tons of split ends, breakage and dry hair then it wouldn't be a good idea but since you did say your hair is pretty healthy, then I think you would be able to. Even if it doesn't dry out your hair, it would still be a good idea to use moisturizing shampoos, hair masks and deep conditioner.

I would not try it. When you bleach your hair it puts little holes in the strand, removing the pigment of your hair and most of the keratin. So chemically treating it again would only further damage it and who knows what the result may be. Your hair could take it, but it would be a risk doing it. It could turn out ok, or your hair could turn to mush and fall out in clumps. If you really want to pursue it, I would definitely get some pro opinions and consultations.

ohh goodness girl lol DO NOT i repeat DO NOT chemically straighten it if you would see what hair looks like after bleached under a microscope whoo then you wanna 'chemically' straighten it wow its not gonna be a pretty sight and i deff agree with ruby_soho i mean from brown to blonde then straightening it would come out a mess prolly burn the crap outta your scalp and your hair could just break off close to an inch of your new growth since thats the healthiest part of your hair im not tryin to sound mean but if you would have seen what i saw in beauty school you wouldnt do it and i saw this post is a couple months old but i still hope you didnt do it :bites nails:

I would say noo its a big risk your hair can turn out ok or BAD, even my own hairstylist told me not to do it haha. So its better if you dont chemically straighten your hair.

Chemically straighening hair is not that bad. The best technique for doing so is the Japanese style. Most salons have this service but it's quite expensive (about $300 and even more for longer hair). Besides the price the results are amazing and you only have to blow dry with a paddle brush to get sleek straight hair.

Yeah I heard the Japanese style is very good but sooo expensive! But I still dont know if you should chemically straighten it. But if you really really want to and really need it then you should just go for it then.

it depends, you should ask the hair dresser. when i get mine straighten they yell at me if my hair is even the slightest highlighted! they say you get better results if you dont have anything done to your hair. but ya you should try the japenese one it's very good that's what i get.

You can do it depending on when the last time you bleached your hair. You should be fine as long as theres enough time in between (like a month). The Japanese method is deffinitelly the best way to have it done.
I've put my hair through all kinds of abuse like that and it takes it quite well.

no no no it will slowly brake your hair off . and going all the way with the JAP st8ner is great but what happens if u move your stylist moves or u want your curly hair back . im going throw that now with a customer of mine that has moved here. not fun when its have st8 and half curly and u can't perm it .
