Anyone here one of those "I'm done with my Christmas shopping" in October people? I'm one of those stress and stress trying to find the perfect gift. How do you do it?

All shopping tips for unique ideas or get done ideas welcomed

ive done alot of xmas shopping already and carrying on with it on my hols in december.

for Unique ideas why don't you put together albums of songs that the person you give to likes, and create a CD cover for it and give it to them as a gift, it wouldnt be money value but it would mean something because you spent time working on it. Also xmas cards that you make yourself adds to a personal touch to make it unique.

I've bought stuff like an MP3 player for my 9 y/o cousin because i know it would mean so much to him.

Why don't you find out what your friends & family likes and adapt their gifts to what they like in your way?

I'm never done early, but I do save my sanity by making a lot of gifts. I knit, sew and cook. This year I'm thinking about using different fabrics to cover blank scrapbooks and photo albums. If I can get what I need, I'll fill a couple of pages to start them out.

I'm also considering making some food baskets with homemade granola, preserves, cheese...

I also like to give gift cards/certificates for nice restaurants. Most people like food, and even if they don't, they still have to eat! My friends and family don't usually go out to expensive restaurants on their own, so it's always appreciated

Thankfully my to-buy for list is short. Hubby, baby, mom, sister & brother. My friends I don't have to buy for since everyone is kinda financially pressed for all kinds of reasons.

I haven't done any shopping yet! I wait until december. I'll go to the stores as soon as they open- so usually lines aren't really a problem for me.

i am very much a "wait until the week before" shopper...but since i'll be out of town quite a while this season, i might need to consider starting a little earlier...

nobody ever expects anything from me for Xmas. throughout the year, if i see something i think someone will like, i'll get it for them and give it to them then. but i still feel obligated (haha, how sad) to get certain people gifts...so usually i just hold whatever i bought them until Xmas...seems like i have a habit of buying my family and close friends things like every two weeks anyways

I'm half done, which is much more than I usually have done. A couple more trips to the mall, and I should be good.. but I need to wait for a few more paychecks to come through and bills to get paid before I can!

I got the idea when I saw some really cute fabric that I wanted to use, but it would be tacky to wear.

And that's exactly why I like to do restaurant gift cards rather than stores. The one I usually get is for a group of restaurants (seafood, Greek, Italian, steakhouse...), so they can even pick their favorite cuisine

i usually wait until christmas eve to do my shopping, or a few days before. since i'm ALWAYS working at the mall (just got a promotion to manager at my store!), i prefer to avoid shopping until i absolutely have to. my step-dad and i are fond of going to the mall at 7am on christmas eve to do our shopping. we're usually done by 9am when things start to get busy! this year i think i'll be doing my shopping during my breaks at work, but thankfully my list is short and most of my family members will merely be getting to use my discount at the store i work in.

I'm getting a fat bonus next week, so I'm doing it all next Thursday. Everyone is getting Lush (bath bombs for the kids, gift packs for the adults).

Generic and inoffensive, that's the way to go.

Men in our lives?

I think "pamper" gifts are such a great idea. The ONE I always struggle with is what to get my hubby.

Any ideas for the men in our lives ladies?

I gave him a "couples" massage for HIS birthday

He loved it!

For me, men are the hardest to shop for. This year I'm thinking about getting my fiance a new leather jacket. My backup plan for him is always Legos or video games.

I never know what to get my dad. He tells me what he wants, then he gets it before his birthday/Father's Day/Christmas, and I'm left to figure out something else.

I'm making small "Christmas-y" soap stacks as stocking stuffers and for my friends. I buy the christmas soaps from lush and cut them to size I want and wrap them is wax coated paper and tie with a pretty ribbon. Simple but still something most women will like.
