Clinique Live Chat

Hey ladies! Help me out here!
I use mostly MAC when it comes to e/s, lip products, etc. I have to use Clinique for foundation b/c I have really sensitive skin and anything else either breaks me out or causes me to get red and itchy. I've been using Clinique's Perfectly Real powder foundation that comes in a compact. I don't use the sponge applicator but use a kabuki brush to buff it on. I got to looking at my skin a few times and decided I wanted something with a little bit more coverage, but not heavy. I saw that Clinique now has the live chat feature like MAC (maybe it's been there awhile and I just didn't know b/c it's been awhile since I've been to their site) so I decided to ask one of them. I think the girl totally misunderstood what I was telling her. Tell me if you think I was unclear!
I told her what I was using and what I was looking for. I told her I was unsure of what skin range I was in b/c I don't have VERY dry skin and the only place I get oily is my nose. I said that I get dry, flaky patches around my eyes and mouth from time to time. Their system goes from VERY DRY to combination and I just don't know that I would technically be either. I wouldn't consider having a sometimes oily nose as combination. So, anyway, she told me I was a level 3 which is "comfortably oily" and then told me what I was using was considered moderate to full coverage and I don't think that at all!!
Does anyone think I could have worded what I said differently or am I just crazy? Also, does anyone here use Clinique who could offer some advice on another foundation product???

Hey, so i have been a BA for Clinique for almost two years

just so you can get some clarity on your skin type with clinique:

(dry skin is that tight uncomfortable itchy, my skin is too tight for my face feeling; flakey skin = dead skin build up, you need to exfoliate, moisturizers just make it appaear not there)

I : very dry skin, your skin is uncomfortable with a moisturizor all over, you never get oily

II: you have an oily t-zone, but your cheeks are dry and unfortable w/o Moisturizor

III: Oily in your t-zone, and comfortable in your cheeks

IV: Oily all over.

Ok now that is done, perfectly real is a moderate to full coverage, but you need to use the sponge for that type of coverage. When you use a brush it just gives you a sheer coverage which it seems like you are experincing

if you want ot stick with a powder, another consideration is the Almost Powder. its a compact make with SPF 15. whats great about it is it is a buildable coverage. so if you use a brush, its sheer. but with the sponge you can go to moderate to full, just layer more.

Thanks for that. I would say I'm a II b/c if I don't use moisturizer, my cheeks do feel tight and I feel like a dry mummy. This really helps alot!

the perfectly real is made for skin types II-IV. try using the sponge and see if you see a diffrence. if its not enough and you don't mind a liquid. I would reccomened THe Repair wear anti aging make-up. It's a tricky foundation cause its so full coverage. You only need one pump for your whole face, this foundation I would ask the BA to put on you. I have personaly have seen returns on this product if not shown how to use it properly

good luck!

She did mention something about using the City Block under the Perfectly Real and said it should give a little more coverage when used with the powder. I have really sensitive skin (I can't use the Dramatically Different lotion-- it makes me red and itchy) so I was thinking of trying the City Block. It can't hurt to get a little extra SPF! Thanks so much for the advice and I will ask them at the store about the The Repair Wear.

city block is a great make up primer. its not a moisturizor though. but it is oil free and has a neutralizing tint that makes your skin appear more even tone. it also helps make your foundations go on smoother and stay on longer. i would also reccomend, any moisturizor that you use, dont go easy on it. the more moisturizor you have on, the better foundation goes on and looks.
