definitely move out. what better way to actually miss your family and appreciate all that they do and have to offer.
plus its a great way to experience all aspects of college life, just don't get side tracked too much with all the partying.

move out!!! you won't have your parents on your case and you'll be in a town/city with a lot of people your age. it's a great experience, i assure you.

move out. it gives you independence & your parents start to see you as more of an adult and student with responsibility; and less of a child going to school still. plus, college life is amazing, you will regret not absorbing 100% of the college experience because you will never be able to be in a college like environment ever again. hope that helped!

Move out/move away. I love not having to answer to my parents, go where I want (even though I'm 18 they still ragged on me), buying food I actually like, etc etc you get the idea. And then when you have an 8:30 class and don't go, no one will be the wiser.

move out, even if you live in a dorm, it teaches you a lot of responsibilities and you learn to be independent.

2nd what everyone else says as well

Oh yeah, if you move into a residence go into an alcohol free one. People are big time assholes when they're drunk (which is every night in my res) and smash the shit out of the walls, ceiling, doors, everything, puke on stuff, egg stuff, pull fire alarms... Unless someone turns the person in, and the person confesses to the damages, the charges get split amongst the floor.

I had to move out. If I had stayed in my little country town I would have killed someone.
So I moved 6 hours away. Hated living on campus (having a car made it much better though)...then moved out into my own apartment & that's been the best (aside from the bills). You don't have to live under your parent's rules, you don't have to live under dorm rules, with girls who like to scream in the halls at all hours of the night or in tiny quarters with a roomate who likes to try to control your every move & tell you when you have to go to bed & who you can & can't have in the room.

So yeah, move out...and if you can afford it get an apartment of your own.

I'm going to be the lone person to say stay at home - if money is an issue. It was going to be an extra $10,000/year to stay at school, which was and is beyond my reach when I had to make that decision. Besides, I am going to go to law school and although I wanted to go to a fun, far-away school, it was just smarter to save my debt until law school.

I only live with one parent, though, so it makes a difference.

I stayed at home. My school was only 11 miles away and I thought it was stupid to live on campus. I went to a private university so I paid dearly for my tuition.

I think it depends on your situation. For me, it would be utterly foolish to move out. I live in my parents house, but in a suite (so, my own kitchen, bathroom, living room, entrance, etc) plus its rent free. I have privacy and our house is like 5 minutes drive from my university so...

If I only had a wee little room without any personal space or freedom, then I would absolutley move out. I do regret not getting into the whole "college scene" or bonding with roomies or anything though.

I never lived in a dorm and I regret that ... think I would have made a lot more friends... but please at least try to move out (if it's an affordable option) and if you don't like it... it's not for you then by all means go home ... you parents will be thrilled and have the chance to have seen you as an adult.

move out & even though it's not as cheap (someplaces) try to live in the dorms. you'll meet so many more ppl from classes etc & have a higher chance to be involved than if you live off campus.
All my friends who lived off campus freshman year (i met them sophomore yr) were only friends w/ kids they knew from highschool & barely ever went to class.
Plus the dorms were super close to the rec center & at night we had a transportation system that picked you up form where ever on campus & took you back to the dorm.
I went home every other weekend (at first it was every friday night & not come back until Monday before my class, but then i realized i was seriously missing some of the "college experience") & it was super nice.

Move to halls, for sure. I'm on a 3 year course... for the first year we were all in halls with internal phones, so we got to know each other really well! It was fantastic... whenever you're bored or lonely at all hours, you can just knock on someone's door and hang out. I'm in my second year now, and I'm living out with 6 other people in a rented house, which is a really unique experience. Wouldn't change it for the world at this stage. I'll be living back in college for my final year though...
