well i know that some of you ladies got this from nordies. i just open mine today, and I am not sure if I want to keep or return it. i really was not liking the colors and i am planing on getting the shadowy lady quad and the colors seem similar. what are your inputs?

swap it at the MUA. If you return it, they will throw it away, such a waste.. so it's better to swap it (with someone who really likes it or wants it) and get something you really like

I returned the powders. They didn't show up for me at all. I also thought they were super chalky.

You guys should try em at the store/counter, that is why they have tester, it is such a waste

Still even with a tester at the store its different once you got your goodies home. Sometimes it just doesn't work out. I'm also in the same boat right now actually. I just got a UD palette in the mail yesterday and I'm REALLY on the fence about it. I can't decide if I should keep it either.

Well good luck!

I agree. I also don't like trying testers on my face or lips.

I agree!
I find things always look prettier at the MAC counter, but get it home in your own lighting, and it's different.
That said, I never return anything, but sometimes it is a little disappointing when it wasn't quite what you thought. I usually still end up liking it though.

Exactly. Cosmetic store/counter lighting is notoriously "off". Also, you'd better believe that the cost of returns/waste is already built into the price, and nobody's conservatism is ever going to drive the price of that down. I don't believe people should be lackadasical in buying/returning products, but if something isn't right for you, why not return it? that's they the reurn policy exists. Not to mention that some things linger in swap hell for months on end, without suitable swaps being made. As long as someone is within their return policy window, let them have at it.

I hate trying on lips at Sephora, but MAC is amazingly hygienic and usually I just take a tissue and go at the lippies before I try them. Some of the MAC counters I go to are stupid and don't cut off the lip applicator though in those lipcolor duos (the ones w/ color on one end and gloss on the other) and that's why I haven't bought one yet, because I don't want to try them.

Face, I'm totally OK with as long as I give it a good wipe with aforementioned tissue (if it's pressed powder). EnKore tips on hygienic practice for the win!

Sephora though is nasty.. they have those brushes for people to test for and they just sit there looking amazingly nasty and dirty.. GROSS!
