Complicated skin...

Okay! Hi everyone

I have Dry skin, very, very dry skin that has been breaking out a bit
Seems like since i've been 26 i've had more breakouts than even in life. they happen around period time and usually after trying a new cleanser.

But usually my skin is just ultra dry.

To combat that after washing i apply a light weight (Seemingly oil less moisturizer) that's made for the eyes but does wonders for my skin over all because of the vitamins. I apply it and wait about 20 minutes for it to absorb before i apply my SFF. Half way through the day my face (More like my makeup) is shiny and a bit oily. If i use blotting paper then the makeup gets cakey and creases.. I tried using a bit of loose translucent powder (Just a tiny bit to my shiny places) and it still cakes...

Is there something i can use to keep the shiny at bay and not cause caking and creasing yet still keep my dry skin under control as a moisturizer?

Do you use products from several different skin brands? I've found products work best when they are used with the ones they were designed to be used with too.

I also have very dry skin, even more so in the winter.

Here are some tips that have helped me improve the overall complexion and texture of my skin.

1. Cleanser - For dry skin try using a milky type of cleanser, something that you can rinse off or tissue off to leave some of the moisture in your skin. I use a Dr. Weil for Origins Mushroom cleanser and it is fantastic and lasts forever. Avoid foaming cleansers because they will suck the moisture right out of your skin. Oil based cleansers really are only good to me for removing longwear makeup from certain areas. They can clog your pores.

2. Exfoliate! This will make a big difference. It will purge your pores of all the oil, makeup, and bacteria that are clogging your pores and causing the breakouts. If you want to exfoliate every day (though it is not necessary) try a mild, gentle one like St. Ive's Apricot Scrub. If you want a multi-tasker try Origins' Modern Friction. It provides deep cleansing and exfoliation, minimizes the appearance of pores, and helps even out skin tone and gives your skin a subtle glow. I love it love it love it.

3. Toner - you need one because it restores the pH balance to your face immediately. I like A Perfect World liquid moisture by Origins because it hydrates my skin perfectly.

4. Moisturizer - you need something specifically for dry skin, it can have an added benefit like anti-aging, calming, whatever. I like Never Say Dry by Origins (see a trend here? lol) because it is not heavy and absorbs right away. Plus it won't distort the texture of your makeup no matter what medium you use (liquid or powder).

I will never go back to drug store brand skin care again. The main reason I like Origins is because they don't use preservatives and other bad things for your skin in their products, they are more natural. If you have an Origins by you at least stop by and get some samples and try them for a week and see how your skin looks and feels. Everyone I have recommended Origins to has never turned back.

Ultimately, my advice is to hit all the major steps with a skin care line where the products are for dry skin and will work with each othe,r not again each other.

Good luck!

Great ideas!

I exfoliate twice a week (I try hard to not do it more than that)

I also use the Clean and Clear line, the morning cleanser, the toner and the moisturizer to keep the break out issue at bay but it's not enough to handle the Michigan winters! which is why i use the Multi Vitamin Eye cream, it's heavy enough to keep the dryness under control but i dont have a oil slick going on the skin...

Im gonna pop into the mall, i think i saw a origins in there, and hopefully they can get me squared away.

Another line i really liked was the DHC, it was all olive oil based, so my skin loved it, and i didn't have break outs...Of course this was years ago, so i wonder if my skin can handle it now...

Thank you for your help! Im going to Origins in the Morning

Oh honey, I'm sorry. That sucks. I've never seen that reaction to Origins. I would have thought it would have been great because all their products are plant based and paraben free.
