God I feel like such a noob asking this question and it is REALLY bugging me to have to ask.
Btw I AM applying after foundation, not before, I know that doing so in reverse would immediately wipe it off. I do this whether I'm wearing my mineral foundation or my MUFE Face and Body Foundation.
I apply mineral foundation with a buffer brush... When using the liquid foundation I stipple on with a sponge for greater coverage, applying a little more to the areas I later want to conceal and use a foundation brush to blend into the hairline and throat. When I want a really flawless face I use less liquid foundation and I use a slight amount of both.
I don't have a problem with getting my UDPP 24/7 Concealer stick and stay, which is what I use under my eyes... I just stipple it on with a concealer brush and then gentle press it with my ring finger so it blends into my skin and blot it slightly with the same buffer brush I used for my mineral foundation... The same concealer stick was not working for my blemishes (I have pretty good skin, I just have some purplish broken blood vessels above my jaw that bother me, and I some breakouts at times on my chin that I want covered) obviously because undereye concealer is lighter than your skintone, and facial concealer should be the same skin tone. Additionally, it just didn't seem to last as well as it did in my undereye area.
I just got MAC's Studio Finish Concealer last week and tried a few different application techniques after realizing it wasn't really lasting... I'm doing pretty much the same technique as my undereye concealing... stipple gently with brush after foundation to build coverage (but no fingers unless I applied to much around the area obviously), then I very gently blot with my mineral foundation buffer brush (this is the synthetic, flat buffer brush from Coastal Scents, not a Kabuki brush). The area doesn't look dry when I leave in the morning and seems to fairly closely match my foundation.
But when I catch a glance at myself in the mirror a half an hour later, it's GONE.
Broken blood vessels visible, the breakouts I was trying to hide I can see again, the foundation of course is still there but the concealer isn't doing it's job. Is there a good setting powder or is the brush I'm using just not cutting it? I was thinking maybe there's a really soft loose brush I should be looking for? I need help! I'm sending out an SOS!
