Counter manager's responsibilities?

What is the role of a counter manager versus a beauty advisor? Obviously they have more responsibility but what exactly do they have to do?

And the part I am most curious about is does managing the counter cut into your availability to sell as much and therefore make as much commission? My fear would be that while you are "managing" you would not have enough time to sell.

If there are any counter managers out there that can tell me about their job I would love to know.

My friend used to be a counter manager.
She would have to spend ages working out everyone's personal targets, checking takings vs target's, planning holidays and cover, arranging events and spent half of her week off counter sorting that and paperwork out.
She still got to do makeovers and consulting but she asked to change to work on counter cuz she got sick of not making any commission and being buried under paperwork, but still having to cover all the sickness and holidays herself.
