So what is the difference?

Haha I know this sounds stupid, but I'm not quite sure, this is all new to me. Aren't there counters in the store? *Confused*

A counter is a section of MAC in a department store, whereas a freestanding store is a store dedicated to MAC.

They both have the same stuff, the stores just have more stock and stuff.

Counters have basic mac, and pigments with their limited edition collections when they come out. Their stock is limited and sometimes they don't carry certain items.
The freestanding stores have empty palettes, pan palettes, pigments and some other stuff. basically the same stuff as www.maccosmetics.com with the exception of the empty palettes(for eyeshadows and blush) and pro pan eyeshadows/blush.
Pro stores have pro items + the regular mac line. www.macpro.com

Just an FYI, my freestanding store does have the empty palettes as well as some other pro items occasionally. It's not a Pro store, just a reg. freestanding store, but they do always have these.

I wish we had a Pro store nearby. I live near Seattle and the nearest one is Vancouver. I'd LOVE to check one out!
