Craigslist help please!!

Hi,
I'm wanting to purchase a poster on Craigslist in NY but I live in Sydney, Australia and I can't even email them using my hotmail (not sure why?) I'm wondering if anyone knows how to help me with this?

You should be able to message anyone throughout the world with a hotmail address or any email address for that matter. Maybe their email address on the posting is incorrect, or you may have misspelt it? Craigslist changes your real address name to prevent spammers from getting to you, so it looks like, you can contact this person at member-1387842794832@___.com, did you use that address?
