Culturebloom...

Is it just me or was Culturebloom disappointing... I had my "workshop" tonite and to be honest, it really sucked! 2 Girls did 2 make-overs and "taught" stuff which I already knew (thanx specktra
greengrin.gif
! ), and this was to a group of 8 wannabe make-up artists... Nobody really bothered to help me much... (first ever disapointment with MAC counter!), and overall the collection, to me, was "crap". I didn't like overgrown at all, Iris print would never work on me, spring up was good, especially as I couldv'e worn it when I usually can't wear any yellows, but I wouldv'e only been able to wear in small doses which I can't justify spending $30 on an e/s I may only get a use of a few times... I a similar e/s to both botanical and stars 'n rocket. The only e/s I really wanted is love-bud BUT somewhere along the way, somebody screwed up and now Adelaide isn't ever going to get lovebud! Grrrrrrr I was so excited and worked up about it, it sucked to be there faced with products I didn't much like... Sweetie cake better not do this to me...

Does anybody else feel like this with culturebloom?

(oh and I don't wear lipstick or lipliner, have far too many lipglosses and blushes as it is, as nice as sweet william was (may even go back for it...) and didn't much like the eyepencil... I'm not actually a picky person, but I was just so let down...)

Was this at a Myer counter? They should be able to order it in for you from another counter; I get stuff shipped in from other states all the time.

I like the collection, but I don't know if I'll buy any of it. I got the lipsticks through B2M, but I don't know if I would have actually forked out the $$$ for them.

I think I'm a bit disappointed with it because of the seasonal differences - if this has been spring/summer, I would have loved it. Now that it's going into winter/autumn, I want elegant and adult colours.

i see where you're coming from with the spring/summer & autumn/winter thing. however, in most parts of the world spring is about to come...
maybe MAC should make two sets of collections for different parts of the world. however, even then, we would all want the colors we can't get. had culturebloom not come to australia because you're going into autumn, australians would've been quite upset & felt left out!?

Not most parts of the world, unless the equator has shifted south a bit.

The shadow were sort of disappointing. I did get Botanical, Iris Print, and Overgrown but they are hard to work with. I love the color of them though.

Yes, Yes and YES!

I can't stand that we have to wait six months for Lancome, Dior, Guerlain etc... collections.

The only advantage is that if something is sold out in Europe/U.S., then you may have another chance at the items if you can arrange a CP from Australia/New Zealand.

Then again, we VERY often don't have the complete range released in this country. Lancome is definitely the worst offender but I was most angry at Guerlain for not releasing the Terracotta Aqua Blue kohl here. <shakes fist>

Hooray for MAC.

I actually loved Culturebloom. It IS about spring here though, so that is why it worked so well for me. Lovebud and Fresh Buzz are two of my staples now. Shame they're LE. I have to agree that Sweetie Cake looks boring though!

That's why I stopped going for makeovers and just say "I'm looking" when they ask. The last few times I was told stuff I know, so I switched the convo away from m/u (except for my moment of glee over the 187). And other times I seem to offend the MA's or correct them. I'ev had multiple experiences where the MA (at MAC) has walked away from me b/c I correct them (once on MSFs) and more the once they were rude to me b/c I had info they didn't then showed them where to find it - thankfully this is all at one counter where I refuse to shop now. Nonetheless it isn't isolated to MAC.

Anywho, I'm sorry you had a bad time, but you must admit, despite all, Specktra is a great place for learning - they should really recommend it to the MA's lol.

i thought culturebloom was fun, brightish soft colors if i can say that together lol. I loooved flowerosophy lustreglass, its so pretty and pigmented. The shadows were fine, even though i bought all of them (becuase of stupid LE fever), i think iris print, and spring up stand out the most.

i havent been able to get any of my colors to work for me no matter what bases I use. i'm trying different things with them, otherwise i'll be giving them to my sister.

Not much of a fan...
I got all excited to go and when i got there I was like "rarr let's go home"

I bought lovebud... just to say I had something from the collection!

The lipsticks don't seem like they would suit me and the orange and yellow e/s wouldn't show up on me even if I begged them too!

I agree with the above... Sweetie Cake don't fail me now!

try nonconformist fluidline with iris print, and base light paint with spring up, chartru with overgrown. these are the three i usally wear, lavender sky usally is in the crease and i usally wear stillife paint all over my eye, love bud i have only worn in the tear duct area, and botanical i have only use as a bottom liner/shader.

Someone (it may have been here, actually) noted the other day that Culturebloom, especially the eyeshadows, seems very orientated towards pale skin.

I might get the apricot e/s for my kit, but apart from that, it doesn't seem very adaptable colour-wise, unless I was doing m/a for a lot of teenagers.

get lovebud (the apricot one you mentioned) and botanical!
botanical might not seem so at first, but it's quite versatile. i'm surprised at how quickly it sold out- actually... no, not surprised

Girl, they're screwing you around. I've never heard of anyone needing a credit card to get things shipped between Myer stores - I used to live in Queensland and a fair commute to the nearest MAC counter, so I used to go to the nearest Estee Lauder counter at the local Myer, give them the details of what I wanted and they'd order it up from Brisbane/Sydney/Melbourne/wherever. I only had to pay when I went to pick up the product after it arrived.

If need be, I'll CP for you.

Would I be able to get you to do a CP for me, if that isn't too much hassle? I can send u an e-check through paypal if you have it, but it will take about a week because I cleared out paypal last night and it takes a week to swap it into my bank account... Let me know if his is okay or not. Thank you Lara! You could be my saviour!! Hehe
