Kinda hard to explain, but here goes:
Take a small section of hair to be curled, about 1in. by ½in. for a small iron, bigger for a larger one
Smoothe the hair with spritz or hair spray and your curling iron. Do this by holding the hair and just using the barrel of the iron, drag it over the sprayed section.
Open the clamp of the iron and insert the hair in at the middle of the strand toward the bottom end of the iron's barrel.
Begin curling toward the scalp.
As you curl, open the clamp slightly to wound the hair around the iron but still moving the iron toward the scalp (sorry, easy to do, hard to explain). Do this until the very end of the strand is under the clamp.
The iron should now be at your scalp with all of the strand wrapped around it.
Hold this position for a few seconds.
Release the iron by loosening the hair and pulling the iron downward.
Proceed to the next section.
