I bought a jar of Dark Soul pigment, but when I opened it it looks like over 1/4 of the jar is gone. I bought other pigments as well and they are all full. Has anyone else had this happen? Are they packaged by weight and Dark Soul is heavier? Sorry if any of this sounds stupid. :?:

This happened to the Pink Bronze pigment that I bought. I just assumed it was because it settled.

One thing that bothered me when I was at the pro store was that I had asked for a sample of Chartreuse pigment, and the MA couldn't find the tester. She proceeded to grab a new box off the shelf, open it, make my sample, then she put it right back in the box, ready to be sold. It was probably missing a little over 1/4 tsp, because my sample was pretty generous.

a lot of the pigments are sold by weight not by volume, but I dont think thats true of all the pigments. I know that the mattes are always "less full" than say rose, or steel blue. The metals are always sold by weight and come about 3/4 or less full...

When I was at MAC the other day, someone was actually exchanging her pigment b/c the same thing had happened to her. Thats very strange.
I didnt know they would give you samples of them! I will have to keep that in mind

Pigments are packaged by weight. If you look, it says grams and oz NOT fl. oz. Both grams and ounces are weight measure, fluid ounces is a volume measure.

There are many differant textures of pigment, and this effects how the pigments settle in the jar during shipping.

Pigments with the texture of Dark Soul and Fairylite tend to be appx. 90% full when new.
