Darker lipsticks for girls with full lips

I have full lips, especially my lower lip. Normally this is a good thing, except that I'm getting kind of tired of wearing ten zillion shades of nude lipstick. Reds and very dark colours make my lips look like they're taking over my face. Does anyone have suggestions?

FYI, I have blue eyes and blonde hair, and my skin is fair with yellow undertones.

Try venturing into some of the pastels - perfect timing for spring! Is lip gloss overload? There are nice light colors in that realm too.

You could try sheer lipsticks. Pretty much every brand has some version of a sheer lipstick...MAC has Lustre texture which is basically sheer, so you could try one of those dark or bright colors which would give you a wash of color instead of a full-on dark lip. Or you could try a dark or bright lipgloss instead of a lipstick.

If you find a really bold lipcolor that you love but want to tone down, you could blot it with a tissue a few times to take out some of the color.

And if all else fails (or if you want to try it out)...give in to your genes! Haha I have full lips too and I have learned to love bright, bold lipsticks so much! If you keep your eyes neutral and stick to matte or cream formulas (because bold glossy lips just make my lips look ridiculously overpowering), you may just like the result.

Hope that helps you!!

Try Cosmo l/s (MAC).
I have full lips and pale skin so darker colors just go "omgwtf?!" on me but Cosmo is like a medium pink cocoa and is darker than most nudes but isn't as dark as Cyber or Underworld.

I say go with it and exploit your lips. I was in MAC today looking for shades that do theat- (Twig is an awesome one....)I mean it had been a couple months and this MUA remembered my lips (even though I was wearing NARS Pigalle). If you got it, flaunt it. Apply, blot, apply, blot till you have full concentrated color. It doesn't have to be look at me red.....if you have ever noticed Angelina Jolie-she is always wearing a pink brown-that is a very natural color and natural colors make lips look even fuller.
If you are fair of skin and hair avoid the reds and purples and corals (very few people look good in coral) and go for deep, fleshy colors. Try for opaque and unfrosted colors, and add a bit of gloss.

try using the lip liner to make your lips go smaller and then use the color you want avoiding matte finish cos it makes the lips flat.
why don't you try revlon brand they have wide and not pricey at all range of colors?

How about muted rose tones? They go with a lot of e/s colors and clothing colors too. If I were you, I would go to the local drugstore and purchase some Wet & Wild lipsticks to play. That way, you will not have made such an investment and you get an idea of what other colors you can wear.

I have always read that dark colors make your lips look smaller and light colors make them look larger. You could try wearing a slightly darker shade of lip pencil or lipstick on the lower lip and a lighter tone on the upper lip in the same color family.

Thank you so much! I will definitely try Cosmo next time I'm at MAC, and look into rosier neutrals. Are there any specific colours you-all would suggest/avoid?
I bought Ruby Woo on a whim (even though I knew it would look awful!) and it does... so I've been applying it lightly over half-concealed lips to get a less intense colour and that's working all right I suppose. Shakefist to all of you who can just walk out the door wearing fire-engine red lippie. :p
