1. You have to love me at my worst, inside and out.
I am not perfect, but there will be times where I'm as far as one can be from perfection. There are days where I will look hideous on the outside. My skin won't be so great, I won't have makeup to hide it , maybe I just haven't been working out lately or I have been eating pizza and ice cream like it's not going to be around for the rest of my life. There are days where I will be sour on the inside too. But you should just know I'm not that mean witch every day. I still want you to love me and find me beautiful, no matter how monstrous I happen to be inside or out for a day or two. It passes, babe, but you need to endure it lovingly when this version of me is around.
2. Accept that different doesn't always mean war.
I will not tolerate fighting over silly differences such as different music tastes or even political views. If I like music that you do not happen to like, my music taste is not 'wrong' or any less than yours. We simply hold contrasting opinions and we need to respect our differences. We have much more important things that may be worth the effort of a fight, and even then I truly don't want to argue with you. I want to communicate with you if there is a real issue that needs to be dealt with. I would much rather use my energy for loving means.
3. I will not accept a ring until we discuss everything the two of us believe about marriage.
We are going to sit down and discuss this until I fully believe you understand and accept this completely. Our beliefs need to be similar. I need you to know what I want and I need you to have the desire to try to give me everything I want from a marriage. I want that desire to become something real. I need to know what you want from marriage so I can also do my best to give you what you want.
4. Money is not worth fighting for, but love is.
I do think there are ways to resolve conflicts without a yelling and hurt feelings argument. Nevertheless, if we do fight, I never want to fight about money. I don't care how tight money may be. Both of us just need to try to do our best together to provide for our family. We may have to expect a little less, but money is not what matters. We just need to continue loving each other and raising good children, no matter how difficult our financial situation can become.
5. Love me because I like to wear makeup and do my hair.
Babe, think what you want, but I wear makeup and do my hair for myself most of the time. Yes, I do want to look my best for you. But, if you tell me I look more beautiful without makeup, I won't wear any less. It's not that I lack the confidence to go without. My appearance simply reflects who I am as an individual. I do try to be attractive, but I do not wear makeup for that sole reason. I will love you just the way you look too. You could be wearing so much hair gel that no natural disaster could move it. But if I love you, I will love you regardless of the way you choose to look. Just try to make an effort to look good every now and then!
6. Addiction is not always healthy, but there are some legal means that a girl needs to survive.
May it be an addiction to shoes, magazines, beauty products, the computer, or who knows what, if it's legal and not necessarily harmful (as a manner in which drugs or alcohol could be) - let it go. You may never come to understand it, but do not look down on my girly addiction. Sometimes a girl just needs a lot of something. Don't be jealous - if I love you, I'll be romantically addicted to you too. Not even my precious makeup traincase could compare.
7. Respect my occasional Girls' Night Out, and I'll respect your Monday Football Nights.
You need time to just veg in front of the TV and I need to go to the spa for a day or out with my girls for dinner. As long as we see each other and use our time together in wonderful ways, I will respect your time of solitude and expect you to respect mine. I won't complain if I have to endure your arguments with the TV (although I may wonder if you will ever realize the other side just can't hear you and never will). Let me have my space if I need it, so I can restore my energy to give to you and our family.
All in all, love me for me.
Love me no matter how I look today or what music I listen to. Fight in the name of love but never over money. Marry me because your dreams can only exist if they are aligned with my own. Respect my decisions and needs. I will love you because you are you. I may love your voice and your eyes, but I will also love you as a whole. I will do everything to make sure you never forget that I love you and married you to be with you forever.
Always, Two Days Until Forever
