Deeper purple, eh? ;)

This thread was brought up from the past, NOT a new FOTD! Haha. Please don't judge my skills from these photos taken in December!

Thanks so much for the compliments and constructive criticism in my last FOTD! I can tell I'm going to improve a lot with all your help. Thank you for complimenting my blush, brows and lashes. I spend so much time tweezing my brows! I'll certainly keep practicing my liquid liner, and try using a thinner line. I have tried curling my lashes before, but they never seem to stay curled, and I haven't gotten the 'curl them at several points to create a curve instead of a bend' technique down yet. However, one common theme was to use a darker purple-

Purple is a good colour for you!

I think a darker pinkish purplish would have looked lovely on the outer corners.

but if you want a bit more depth... try a deeper shade of purple.

Also toamp up this look and make it more dramatic, i agree with the adding a darker purple in the outer v of your lid and blend, you'd be amazed at how one more e/s color will make such a huge difference.

I certainly do that sometimes. Here's a pic I took months ago with darker purple eyeshadow. I think it's a bit much, but it was fun to wear.

I'll have some new pics with dark purple shadow very soon!

Very pretty! The darker purple definitely looks great on you and adds some depth and definition, rather than one all over colour.

Wow, that looks awesome!!! And you know, if you can't curl without bending, get a mascara that curls your lashes, you know, I really like Flextencils (curves and lengthens), Amplicils (amplifies, curls and separates), and FlexWP (curves, lengthens, waterproof) by Lancome, they're a bit pricey ($22 a pop) but I think they're well worth it....because I don't like curling my lashes! lol Hope this helps!!!

Wow that looks so good on you! I really like the darker purple! I cant seem to curl my lashes properly either so I have pretty much given up, I will curl them a little and then apply my primer let it dry and then I kinda re curl them a little then my mascara, it gives them a slight curl but I still cant get the dramatic curl so I have pretty much given up lol!

But you look great in those colors, I love that look on you!

Ditto! Just replied to the first FOTD too, and this is great! It's actually a softer more smouldery look w/out the liquid liner.
This rox.

Yes, purples are a knockout pop out color for green eyes. I love it!
If i had only one suggestion it would be to use a lighter color right under your eyebrow to highlight your nice arch.

Wow. I'm amazed (and delighted!) at the positive response. When I was applying that, it was more as a joke to try to put on makeup as heavily and darkly as I could. Here's the full face- *CRINGE*

I think I looked like a clown.

I always worry dark colors up to the lid will be seen as slutty. But maybe I should do my eyes like that more often? Also of note is that eyshadows always seem lighter in my photographs than on my real face. Maybe it's the flash off the reflective particles. Or maybe it's all in my head and I should try to embrace my inner slut and apply more heavily.

I do happen to have some curling mascara, so maybe I'll try it tomorrow.

We must get away from the thought that bright/dark eye shadow is slutty, it is not. Slutty is having sex with a bunch of people.
However, there are appropriate times to tone it down a little.. say for work..and this all depends on where you work too. If you have to be conservative I go for the neutral colors... But i'd say go for the crazy colors. I like them.
Yes, the flash can wash out colors. Try taping a piece of paper towel over the flash.

It's funny... at MAC some customers think because we're decked out our lives are one big careening wild party when we usually spend our evenings watching American Idol.

Some tips here - I think the issue here and why it's popping out at you is you went with a contrasting color to the purple with a coral/orange cheek and lipstick. We carry color wheels in our belts for this reason- look for one on line because color theory is really useful in makeup - but when we use colors together that are contrasting or opposite eachother on the wheel- like a blue purple and an orange pink - it's going to make the colors really pop and zing out on eachother. It's not wrong - but you do get the lips and cheeks competing with the eyes. So I'd reccommend either a plummier blush and lip - something that is closer to the purple in the eyes to keep an all over evening drama look - or wearing a neutral blush and lip to keep them from competing altogether.

Dark colours do not look slutty at all. I think they are dramatic in a good way. If properly applied, people look lovely with dark eyeshadow. I like to do a nude lip with dark eyeshadow.
