Depoting my NYX.. Palette Suggestions

I've finally decided that I need to depot my NYX single shadows. I'm going to University in August and there is no way that I am going to be able to fit my 14 singles (or how ever many I have) in my Caboodles train case.

So I've decided that I need to depot them into palettes so that I can just stick the palettes in my drawer.

I saw that Pursebuzz had a blog post about how she depoted hers using a palette from Stars Makeup Haven. But she used an exacto knife to cut the square shape out from the foam and that's just too much work for me.

I'm guessing I'd need a palette that has a fully magnetized back and a divider I can remove, obviously. I know it sounds like a MAC palette but if I can get away with another brand for less that would be even better.

Please let me know if you have any idea of a good palette!

Thanks!

I followed a Youtube tutorial and bought a palette from stars makeup haven.com, The tutorial said to use an exacto knife to carve out the "foam" insert that holds the eyeshadows into a square shape (it's not like a MAC palette w/ plastic insert). I have to say that I am VERY sorry that I did this because 1. the foam did NOT cut very easily or neatly even with a new blade and 2. I ruined several of my NYX shadows (though I have a feeling that some of the colors were finer pressed than others and more delicate when I pried them out)

perhaps someone else can offer a better suggestion ...but I would not recommend the above if you're happen to come across this

I'm not 100% sure that this would work, because I've never tried depotting NYX shadows (I only have 1), but maybe you could just get a fairly cheap palette, remove whatever divider it has, and buy either a roll of magnet tape (you know, magnet on one side, sticky on the other, so you can cut the length you need and stick it wherever), or the little magnet dots, and kind of make your own magnetic backing..?

I did the whole Exacto knife-foam palette divider-cutting thing and it was OK. I eventually de-panned my NYX shadows into round pans and put them in my MAC palettes. It was a little work, but now that I've got the hang of it, it only takes me a few minutes to do now.

Dayjoy...How did you manage to get that exacto knife to cut through cleanly and in in the square shape of NYX shadows (or did you use the trio ones?).

Paradiscolove...the palettes from starsmakeuphaven.com are pretty cheap and good for other depotting like Mac ...the 28 pan w/ magnetics (you stick them on) is $13.95, the 15 pan w/ magnets is $8.95

I placed the pan over the round hole and traced it with a pencil. I put the pan to the side and using a new blade, cut around. Come to think of it, small cuticle scissors would work (probably neater and easier) too if you've totally pulled out the foam separator thingy.

While not necessarily a cheaper alternative, Trish McEvoy has 'pages' that are magnetized and have a cover that snaps over. You can put any shape object in as the magnet is just a big square. They're designed for her 'planners' (which are like 3-ring binders, but smaller). I also have an old Aveda palette that is much the same concept - I don't know if Aveda still has them, but it's worth a shot.

HTH!
