My ex and me have recently started talking again and he has given me mixed signals, I am confused by what they mean? and being friends with him is very difficult for me. Anyone please give me insight on what you think about his behavior?
We broke up because his stepdad interfered in our relationship when his stepdad found out I was upset at my ex. He left me a rude voicemail telling me I couldn't crowd the relationship either and not to be a dominatrix. I was appalled by this, but of course, my ex defended his parents. His mom has always said I am controlling, which I personally don't think I am, but it bugs me because she rarely has had nice things to say about me. Well that weekend, his parents went too far and I wrote an email to them that came out kind of harsh but told them why I thought what was said was uncalled for. Afterwards, my ex wouldn't talk to me, so I apologized to him and his parents numerous times. He is very stubborn and wasn't willing to listen. That is how we broke up. We stopped talking for eight months and one day i lost control of my laptop mouse and a direct connection got sent to him on aim. I exited out of it as fast as I could and he imed me saying hi and we ended up talking because he started asking me questions.
We talked that entire day and he told me that he was very hyper that day and excited, more than he usually was. Also at this point he told me he still had feelings for me and I said I did for him. So that same week on Friday we spent the entire night talking till 3 or 4 in the morning. That night there were times when I had to leave and then return and each time he would be like why are you leaving I don't want you to leave. At one point I told him I didn't care if we talked that night or not and he was kind of upset and was like why don't you care if we don't talk or not. He also sent a text telling me that if he could have anything there with hiim at that moment it would be me. That night I said his name and he asked me to repeat how I said it because he liked the way I said it.
However, as mentioned earlier his mother is a problem and hates my guts. I told him that he must tell his mother about us talking again and see her reaction and if it didn't go well we would have to stop talking. Well he told me his mom did not react well and I said we can't talk then and he was like why not and I told him because we can't. Then right after that I got very upset with him and sent him a bunch of rude text messages because he did not defend me when talking to his mom. A couple days later I felt what I did was wrong and too harsh and ended up apologizing to him and he told me he did defend me but that I never asked him that I only asked him how his mom reacted.
We talked fine as friends until one day it was casually brought up how if one of us made a move our friendship would slip. Also after those text messages, we stopped being as open with one another about our feelings. Well that day he said everything would be fine as long as I didn't slip because he knew he wouldn't since he didn't have feelings for me anymore. So then that kind of hurt me, but I told him I wouldn't and then I asked him why did he say if he could have anything with him that one day that it would be me. So he said that he said it to see if he had feelings for me and that he didn't mean it. So I was like what? and he told me that he said those things because he wasn't sure if he had feelings for me and so that helped him to see if he did and he didn't and I was like people just don't say things like that if they don't mean them and he was like well that is the method I took. I got upset with this and then told him I loved him, but was planning to take it back, but never did. I then told him I didn't think we could be friends anymore and he got upset and said why not and I told him because if one of us slipped I said we couldnt be friends. So then he told me he thought I was saying it on purpose just so we wouldn't talk which I told him I wasn't. So he spent the entire night trying to convince me to continue talking to him and pleading with me. He said he wanted to keep talking with me cuz he had fun with me and he shared a special connection with me. He said I was the only person he could talk to about anything for hours and hours.
Well this continued on and we were friends. One night we were talking and I told him I didn't like him anymore and that I didn't think we should be friends either. He got upset and said you only care about what you want. Then we talked and I told him if he was friends with me I would hurt him and did he really want to risk that. He said yes and then he told me to go ahead. So I went on a rant about him and he ended up insulting me once and laughing it off the whole time going hahahah. When I stopped and said should i keep going or stop he said r u really enjoying this and I said no I don't like saying crap about people and then I told him I was sorry for what I said and told him the things I didn't mean, but he did not accept my apology. Then we fought fire with fire and he said he didn't want to talk anymore because I could not accept him for who he was and that he thought he had a great connection with rachael. I had no idea who rachael was and was surprised when he said that to me because I did not see what that had to do with us not being friends. So then I told him most of what i said was what other people said and I do accept him for who he is. I then went on to tell him that also he didn't need to be friends with me because he had rachael and he must have the same connection with her as he does with me. So then he said and katie, I haven't decided which yet. So i told him well yeah so then you dont' need me because you must have the same connection you have with me as you with rachael and katie. So then he said how do you know? I told him because when you date someone you date the person that is like your best friend who you can talk to for hours and hours about anything. So he didn't respond to that, we said bye ten times and never could say bye to each other and in the end I asked him you don't really want to do this do you and he told me that he didn't so we decided to stay friends.
Also previous to this last conversation I had with him I had talked to him and I told him what if I didn't care anymore and he was like well something could still happen and I was like how if I don't care and he said something could happen with him though because if I didn't care he might want my attention and i was like so you would like me because I don't care and he said its a possibility, not saying it would happen.
After all of this he said we were just friends for now but then when we were talking about it he said he hadn't said it although he did that same day. Also I know he has been spending some time with this girl rachael through his facebook. However, I don't know what is going on in the boy's head.
