Did anyone else catch this on ebay?

hahaha I always wonder that when I kinda scoff at people paying that much for something. hey, like someone else said once, we've alllll paid an ungodly amount for that perfect pair of shoes, discontinued face cream, hard to find jeans, whatever! If you love it, you love it. I have no problem spending wayyy too much money on Juicy Couture and some people think "but they're just sweat pants!"

HOly cow!

That sure is a lot...now watch and see, MAC will probably re-release them again like they did Kitschmas. I feel bad for those folks who bought it on ebay for $100

these pigments have been discontinued for 3 yrs or more now or maybe more..they were one of the first pigmnets to come out. They will never be re-released as in the case of kitchsmas..I can see why the amnt was paid. Some people want rare stuff more than others..and no it wasnt me that won LOL

It was me that bought them. I did read the auction and I was aware that none of the jars was full, but I collect pigments and in the two years I've been seriously collecting MAC, I've only managed to get my hands on 1/4 tsp of bronze, about 1 tsp of brass and a little more than 1 tsp of copper. They're gorgeous colours and I wanted them, along with the original jars so I can transfer the other samples I have into them, for display with the rest of my pigments.

I realise this is a lot to pay for pigments, but I believe it's up to me what I do with my money and I honestly think it's pretty rude to discuss people like this, just because they don't place the same value on stuff as someone else does.

Besides, what you are not taking into account is that I am in the UK and the auction is in US dollars, so the exchange rate is on my side at the moment.

$173.73 is more than 9 full size pigments to you guys, to me it's around 6. It's still a lot to pay, but it's not quite as bad as if I was in the US and didn't have the exchange rate to help me out.

You are quite right, it is rude.

I try to reserve my b*tching for sellers who ask insane prices for stuff

Auction discussion threads come up every now and again. It's not personal, and I don't see any personal, derogatory, or rude comments made about the buyer in this thread?

Thanks Janice, I didn't at ANY point mean for this to be offensive. I would post the same thing about an auction for a pair of Manolos going over $1,000. If you really want them and that's what you can afford, GO for it! I would be doing the same if I wanted it that badly--I know these are hard to come by and are getting more and more scarce each day. It's with lustful awe that I watch, not rude scoffing.

BTW (and I wasn't stalking, just curious!) CONGRATS on the steal you got on Blueboy& Hot and Sour...wow.

If I was the bidder, I think I may find the original post, ie: insane listings a tad offensive because if the listing is insane and I end up bidding on it until I win, I think it's implied that I am insane.

We all go 'insane' sometimes, when we see stuff we really really want.

I suppose it's up to us to decide if we deserve the splurge or not!

Copper looks gorgeous. Turbokittykat, is it as red toned as it looks in the pic for the auction?

It is a gorgeous colour. Here it is swatched on skin. It's very highly pigmented, so I didn't use a lot for the swatch, (apologies for the rubbish photo):
