Discontinued makeup

HI, i was wondering about what happens to overstocked, discontinued, or makeup that isn't bought?...does cosmetic companies just throw them out?..i know estee lauder sends some to CCO stores...but i don't think it's everything...does anyone have a clue where these go?....

much discontinued stock is recalled from stores once its no longer on display/shelves. some brands keep discontinued stock to give away at cosmetics training days - i received a massive bag full of make-up, with some new, some current, and lots of discontinued items from self-selection make-up companies.
others send them to cco's and i think some may even get recycled.
