Don't buy makeup for awhile! Food and rent and bills are way more important than makeup. I only buy makeup when I have extra "fun" money left over and I need a little retail therapy. Make sure that your bills are paid in full first before you spend all of your monies.

well firstly you need to make sure that you have moeny left to pay your bills. if you roughly know what amount your credit card bill will be then stash it away when you get paid. that way you know not to touch that money.

i personally budget £50 a month for cosmetics. however sometimes i don't spend that amount and other months i may go over. but at the end of the day if my wages are lower than usual or if i have an un-expected bill then my make up budget gets pushed to the back.

maybe start off by saving 5 bucks a week or something towards cosmetics. start small and then if you have any extra cash then add it in!

I have set a budget for myself, although I TOTALLY forget that I get a refund check for my student aid that pays for almost 3 months rent (I lived off-campus this year). Regardless, I am still sticking to that budget. I am still on a No-Buy, excluding the exceptions mentioned in my signature.

By contrast, my sister has loads of credit card debt, but she also has a shopping addiction and is...well, very immature. I'm not going to get much more in to it, but suffice to say that she could have been out of debt by this point if she had just buckled down and paid off her credit cards instead of buying new things constantly.

I know it's hard, but sometimes it's necessary. For me, personally, it REALLY helps to keep track of how much money I've saved. If you're paying off credit cards or bills, it helps to keep track of how much you've paid off, ie, how the amount of debt is slowly decreasing.

Personally, I recommend that (assuming you are independent) you figure out what your bills are on average and put aside that money +5% every month. Then you need to figure out how much you usually spend on groceries and put aside money for that, although many people inadvertently spend too much in that category. Setting a strict limit for how much you can spend at the grocery store can often help you save money. Lastly, you need to put money aside for "incidentals," like your car breaking down or your computer exploding or trips to the hospital. Most people I know put aside about 10% of their money for this and call it a "breaker fund." Anything that's left over is spending money...and to be quite honest, what's left over is usually not much. Hence, my recommendation there is to save up that spending money for a couple of paychecks, then have one BIG satisfying haul. The wait may suck, but the release will feel great.

I hope that helps!

If you are behind on your bills, I would postpone any cosmetic spending until you can catch up. I know it can be hard especially when new collections come out, but in the long run you will be much better off.

I agree! Also, since you don't have the money, have you considered talking to your parents? I don't know if they'd have it or not, but if you don't find a way to get some money in there, your Sears payment will bounce, which I believe will not only get you additional charges from them (at least late fees), but you will then probably have fees with your bank for being overdrawn. I wish I had more advice. I know sometimes it's hard to make ends meet every month. I'm currently digging myself out of debt that I got into while in school, and I really don't buy anything makeup-wise because I'd rather be out of debt than worrying how I'm going to make the payment each month & knowing I have that much debt hanging over my head.

You say you don't even make enough money to pay your bills, so it seems to be somewhat obvious that you should take care of that first before even considering makeup.

And as die-hard as some of us are about purchasing new make-up, makeup is not worth a bad credit score.

THANK YOU---got to have your priorities in order!

Btw, not being able to handle your money and bills makes you less eligible to be in a relationship.

honestly i think should should stop spending money altogether on things you don't need right now. i don't think you have enough money to put by each month for cosmetics if you can't pay all your bills each month. it's a terrible trap to fall in and it won't get better. call up your card companies and see if they can lower your minimum payments each month to something more manageable. and perhaps can you work any more hours? heck even a second job just until you have things paid off.

also don't tempt yourself by going into stores all the time. just chill out and stay home and watch a movie with friends which doesn't cost anything!

Yeah, I spend a ridiculous amount of money on makeup. I but myself on a $100 (excl. products replacement--foundation). It went right out the window with All Sexes, Ages, Sexes collection. I"ll be over budget angain with Spring Forecast & Give Me Liberty...

Hopefully, MAC will release some collection that I'm not interested in thorought the year, that may by budget will balance out as the year goes on. All and all, I'm off to a VERY Bad start.

Congrats on the second job!
But now that you have the money, I would seriously consider sitting down and making a budget. Consider all of your expenses-food, clothes, cosmetics, entertainment, othe purchases, saving, and emergency expenses. Don't just lump saving and emergency expenses together either, or you might end up in the same boat I did (saved up enough to move out, only to have my car break down two weeks later). Once you have the money that you will spend on makeup set aside, research upcoming collections. Sometimes it's more satisfying to save up a few months worth of makeup money and splurge on a collection that you really like, rather than to spend all of your money for that month, just to watch a really good sale or collection pass you by.
Hope this helps!!!

I don't always buy makeup. If I have more than enough money sometimes, then I try to get like 1 or 2 things, then I feel guilty about it haha

I try to swap as much or just buy them online.
