Do you accidentally buy something you already have?

Like either you bought a makeup item only to find out that you either already have it or something just like it?

So I was at MAC about a month ago? (I don't go there often) And I planned to get just Russian Red lipglass and Blacktrack fluidline but ended up getting swimming e/s and shimmermoss e/s as well. When I swatched shimmermoss, I thought, "ohhh what a pretty colour! I've never seen a colour like that before! I'm going to get it!". The about 2 weeks later, I was going through my makeup and found out that I had an EXACT dupe for shimmermoss before I bought it. It was aromeleigh's Lucky shadow. I usually don't reach for my aromeleigh shadows even though they're awesome! They look exactly the same and same good quality too. Actually, I think aromeleigh's is actually easier to work with since I don't have to dig in a pan with my brush to get a lot of colour.

I'm kind of upset, because I'm one of those people who can't afford backups or don't have enough in their collection to have backups. That could have been another shadow in another colour for me to play with/ build up my tiny collection!

lol.. yeah that happens all the time.. especially when it comes to browns and pinks lol... Perhaps you can bring it back Mac has a 30 day policy

Nahh I already used it haha. I'll finally not feel guilty when one of the shadows is used up lol.

yeah all the time..bought Plum Dandy twice but at least I was able to bribe my mom to get me an e/s in trade for it.

You could always sell/swap it for something else you know you don't already have - do it from home so that you can check your entire collection first to make sure!

I only buy from MAC and I keep a list with all the stuff that I already have so there's now way I ever buy dupes of anything.

I have 850246 Mythologies (ok, only 3), and I don't even like the color that much. I've really only used any of them like 3 times-but it looks so pretty in the pot that when I first started buying MAC it always calls my name.

My collection is small, so I have a reasonable idea of what I have.

I always forget which I have out of Swimming, Steamy, Lustreleaf and others of that colour range. So much so that I have to stop myself buying anymore of those colours incase I already have them. And when I get home, I forget to check.

I should really organise my stuff better. haha.

I have bought sweet brown liner 3 times and everythime I was trying to buy deep soul. I also have at least 10 neutral/brown shadows not including about everyone pale neutral w/shimmer that mac makes. Also I have a really bad time not buying every shimmery brown I see (I have at least 20 of the same lipgloss).

yes! i bought Bitter twice. the sad thing is, my mom was with me and was like, "i swear you have that!" hah. i should've listened but she normally doesn't pay attention/remember.

Ahhh! I did it again! I just recently bought surreal only to find out I had UD shattered, which look exactly the same. I've never used the UD shattered before though lol, which is probably why I forgot about it... ;[

I know! what went wrongg!!!! Lol.

I would say, at that time I wasnt very familiar with MAC's product naming or better said, didnt really care much about the names of the stuff I had.

the first time is when i wanted to get a new powder shade, coz the one I had didnt suit me much.. & when i came back home I discovered I got the exact same shade i previously owned. but i could swear it looked different :O !!!

the second time: "lipliner". one time when i had my makeup done at mac, the MA applied this lipliner which I reaaallly liked, so I got it that instant. Again, when i came back i discovered that i had the exact same lipliner color!!!! I dont know why things look so different in stooree!!

ANYWAY, lesson learned!!!
proud to say, I now know almost the name of evey Mac. product there is. Some MAs actually get fascinated by that haha.
