This is a spinoff thread from the conversation on why products have their names.

So, if you don't like the name MAC has given a product or just think that something else would be more fitting let us know. What name would YOU have given it?

I dont think Twig lipstick suits its name... it should be called Chameleon or something cos it looks different on diff skintones...

Oh and I cant bring myself to say Haux... anyone know what that means, is it french for hoax? lol... IDK!

I struggle to say Brun too... I have such a british accent when it comes to french! But its a good name for the colour... but coffee bean would have easier! im not very inventive or inspiring am i??

LoL I'd change Palatial lustreglass, even though its d/c

Everytime I saw it online, I was pronouncing it "puh-lat-ee-ul"

Then I looked it up and saw the pronounciation, but I dont like making an ass of myself, so i told my MA I couldnt say it, LOL.

It probably really fits the lustreglass though LOL. I'm a dumb-a-lumb.

I hate the name "pervette" lipstick... Every time I see it or hear it the only thing my brain registers is PERVERT!

Parfait amour. There has to be someone who doesn't know french and thinks the t is supposed to be pronounced.

Also orpheus kohl power. It just seems like there could be something better.

Otherworldly blush. There was already something named that before I think.

Same with all the 1N, 2N lipglasses and lipsticks. It just sounds like they were last minute ideas even though they probably weren't.

I just don't get Mutiny pigment. The name does fit wiht the theme but what in a soft pastel like sky blue colour says mutiny? IMHO something like Horizon or Sea Breeze would have been better..

ITA! I believe the working name for it was Wave. I think that suits it much better than "Mutiny."

Actually I love all the French sounding names. Just think, MAC is helping us to be more worldly, at least with pronouncing the odd "international" sounding product name!

This is coming from the girl who until recently was saying Sonic Chic as in "chick" rather than "sheek," haha.

Yep, that would have been so much better.

Pervette and Smut are my favourite names.

When I worked at the counter, I always used to dread any product MAC released with a french name. People really give those names a special kind of butchering that always made me cringe. What's worse is that I would repeat the colour back to them, but pronounce it correctly and they would still keep mangling it.

One day when I was at the counter (as a customer and after my MA days) a woman was buying Gitane LG from D'Bohemia and pronounced it Gyi-tee-ahn-tee-uh. When the MA said it correctly, the customer corrected her with the incorrect pronunciation. Classic.

Naked Lunch. What does this even mean?

I actually love the name because it's totally random, but I have always wondered how it was given this name.

I know that it's a movie so it could be from that. I saw it on TV once and thought of MAC but I'm not really sure it's because of the movie.

It's a book, but I don't know that the book was the inspiration.

I agree. I hate it when companies name their cosmetics directly after (or elude to) drugs. Dirty names don't bother me in the least. In fact, I love those. I just loathe the drug thing. UD is horrible with names.
