Does lipstick have to "match" or "go with" with your hair?

I tried on this really bright pink lipstick from makeup forever(heres the link just so you can get an idea of what I mean) its #203

http://www.sephora.com/browse/produc...ategoryId=4028

and at the time I had black hair so there was a big contrast and it looked great.Well recently I changed my hair and now its a brownish/red color.I still really want the lipstick but I dont know if it would look bad with my new hair...

If it makes your skin look like a different tone then maybe.

I just dyed my hair blue/black from being medium true red and I think my skin just looks more cool toned than it used to... you know? I think that it just kind of "cast" a slightly different tone on my face.

I'd buy the lipstick anyways because you can't be sure of how your hair color looks with your make-up until you try it out.

And anyways, if you pulled your hair away from your face (in a ponytail perhaps) you wouldn't see as much hair so there would be less possibility of it clashing.

i had the same problem when i left my black hair behind...black hair is amazing because it works with everything haha. i'd suggest getting it anyway though, because you never know until you try it and who knows, you may go back t black someday.

I'd try it out. You could always ask someone to sanatize it for you. I was in MAC the other day and i was talking to a girl who was matching my mom to foundation. She was a natural blonde, but dye her hair black because of the ridiculous colors they had to wear based on collections. So, she has black hair, so nothing clashes. Haha. Of course, the girl had no idea what she was doing and applied the foundation completely wrong- but thats my story.

I'd just try it. It's always surprising to me what works and what doesn't when it comes to lipstick.

I think it also kind of depends on the subtle undertones in both your hair and lipstick as well. I recently (and accidentally, though I actually quite liked the result) dyed my hair this really bright colour of magenta that was supposed to be bright red. It kind of had those bluish undertones, which was a big change from my previous golden blonde hair (there's the reason why it came out pink). I had this really cheap red Revlon lipstick, since I don't usually wear red lipstick it wasn't worth the investment in a better one, and I didn't think that lipstick was going to go with my hair. One was fairly bright pink and one was bright red. But when I tried on the lipstick, I noticed that the bluish side of my hair brought out this bluish undertone in the lipstick, and it actually looked good. I had always been taught, for clothing anyway, that pairing red and pink was a big no-no, but I don't think it's that simple when it comes to hair and make-up. There are different types of red and different types of pink, some will match and others will not. Like everyone has already said, you're probably just going to have to try it out.

Sometimes changing the color of your hair will result in a difference in the way your natural skintone looks - it may warm up your whole face or give it more of a cooler tone.
It's difficult to say whether the same lipstick will work for you or not, although I don't think the bright pink will be too much of a problem - Like others have said, you can always try it at Sephora before purchasing it =)
