urgh im so annoyed i failed my driving test for the 3rd time again today. in total i received 3 serious
1st being joining a road 2 lanes and i stayed on the right cos i was turning right on the roundabout though he said 'in this countrie we drive on the left' ??
2nd being on a hill starting again indicated to go almost did then 4 cars came round so i stopped for a second before going and apparently i should of turned my indicator off
and thirdly at a roundabout car next to me i would of gave way to if it was moving but it just wasnt and the road was clear so i did and it still stayed and apparently i should of waited until it moved
this totally confused me as i thought i drove perfectly fine and this time had a different examiner to the nightmare ive had twice before and he was reallly nice and said i was a very good driver just little things
im like erm if im so good why didnt i pass lol

I'm from the west coast, so roundabouts make no sense to me...if I had to take a test where I had to navigate one, I'd do really badly!!

No, it's a different kind of intersection where you go in a circle. They're alot more common in Europe.

aw hun don't feel bad ... when i was 16 i failed my permit test twice, failed my driving test twice and then my mom made me wait till i was 18 ... n even then is till failed my driving test 1 haha. the only reason i past the written part of the test when i was 18 is because my mom was so tired of driving me places she helped me cheat haha.

The Magic Roundabout in Swindon! I used to drive through/around/over it regularly and love it

It certainly confuses lots of people though.

There's another Magic Roundabout in Hemel Hepmstead although I think it's less fun than the Swindon one.

In the parts of the USA which have roundabouts, they are known as "traffic circles"

I never bothered getting my car licence. I have a motorcycle licence and I barely use it - I live right on the electric tram line, why bother dealing with insane Sydney drivers?

Most people take a few attempts to get their P plates. A friend of mine took 13 goes to get hers, and no one trusts her to drive them anywhere. heh

that does look a lil bit confuseing the roundabout dont worry though you will pass just keep trying im in the us and havent seen a roundabout we have signs and lights to help us if not it would be confuseing good luck i know you will pass keep trying..lol

are those Smaller roundabouts Inside a larger one??? i've been thru a few large round abouts in england but never this one! haha I want to make a special trip just for this one..

Yes, both Magic Roundabouts have a series of smaller roundabouts around a larger one making numerous different routes between any pair of inlet roads possible

lol the roundabouts confused everyone

nd yep i know it usually takes a few times though all my friends driving so far its took them 2 at the most, many were 1st time, and the ones that cant drive just think hows it so hard
its very frustrating as you just think i can DO this why can i pass?! and the cost phew it works out to be over $100 per test you do

Too funny - I lived in Hemel for several years and foraged through the Magic Roundabout there on an almost daily basis. Rotaries used to cause me a lot of pain (notoriously the one by Cape Cod) but now I am an old pro.

I know the UK driving test is a pain - you'll pass next time!

I, like Galley Girl, am a west coast girl. My first exposure to Roundabouts/Traffic Circles was when I moved to and was travelling in Europe. Good God. I almost killed so many side-view mirrors whilst trying to pass cars on tight roads in the UK (yeah, the left side thing really threw me off).

Good luck on your driving test, hon. Just try to relax, clear your mind of clutter and focus on the test. It will happen for you, don't worry.

Aww...don't feel bad. Those things are confusing. I couldn't even imagine them here, where people are stumped at a 4-way Stop sign....But, I was 20 when I took my first driving test. I failed.......because I was speeding.

Amen! We really are used to very basic traffic control methods in the US. I was confused at the Jersey "Jug Handles" during a trip through Jersey. Those are pretty simple, but this was pre-roundabout exposure and before the near-death experiences of driving in Paris, Italy and Budapest. Now, I could navigate through the streests of India! Well maybe India, with a few minor fender benders.

As cute as pie, it will all come together for you. It just takes experience. The more time/practice on the road you have, the more confident and comfortable you will feel.

When I first started driving, I was total crap at it. All my fault too. I just didn't pay attention. I was too distracted. Soooo...do as I recommend, not as I did and really focus.

the thing is i dont mind roundabouts at all nd there not confusing it was just he really wasnt moving lol
oh my instructor really annoys me he takes everything so seriously. like sometimes in the car when im waiting to do a reverse or something and other cars are in the way or there isnt any space to do it and we drive around looking for somewhere i get slightly annoyed just like rr this is so silly how annoying. and he decided to go and tell my dad that i need to calm down alot :| im like yeh im annoyed cos its costing me £17 a lesson (around $32) for a hour and i get nothing done. it also annoys me i drive around the opposite place to the test route and when i questioned it he replied with well its hard to get over there in a hour. er hello i get put ON a test route on my test and that lasts only 40 mins :|
