Dumb question about MSFs

Having never looked into these, I know very little about them, but my impression has always been that they are either glowy/frosty or glittery, both of which look bad on me. Has there ever been a semi-matte or satin kind of finish to one? Could the upcoming Northern Light possibly be like that?

Well, there haven't been any that are not glowy and frosty, because that is basically the point of them. Mineralize Skinfinishes were created to give a subtle or dramatic (depending on what one desires) highlight and glow to the skin. Removing the frosty metallic features of the product would take away the trademarks of the product.

If you want a more matte finish, I suggest you look into the Beauty Powders in the Raquel Weltch collection. They are both still available online, and if you're lucky, still available at your local counter. These Beauty Powders (as opposed to for example, the Barbie Beauty Powders) are not metallic or frosty, and have a much flatter finish. Also, you may want to look at the permanent and limited edition blushes to see if you find any cheek/face colors for the look you desire. Hope that helps!

Also available are the Mineralize Skinfinish Naturals which are made of minerals like the Mineralize Skinfinishes, but of more natural colors, and matte. These are intended to be used as regular face powders, and makeup setting powder. They have a low coverage, so they can be used as a light foundation as well.

I only got into msf's last year, but I think Lightscapade is the closest fitting something you'd like. Dusting a bit under my eyes gives an instant pick me up to my look without looking like I added anything. The others I have tho - Shimpagne, Shooting Star, Glissade, Petticoat - you can see some particles imparting some frostiness. Lightscapade is glowy but in a very soft, subtle way. HTH!
