I did!!! I lost by one whole freakin' dollar!!! I was bidding on these Seven for all Mankind jeans that retail for $240.00 USD & i can't even find them in Canada or even online anymore so i set my max bid for $99.45 and left the computer. The bids were still at $61.00 when i placed my final bid & i went out for a few hours. I return home to see the winner at $100.45! I was so pissed! Those jeans are so hard to find! They are the 7FAM great china wall jeans and have a white leather skull sewed on the side LOL. But on the bright side & what's really making me feel better is:

-They were used.
-They are size 27 (I need a 28!)
-Shipping was $20 to Toronto
-I found Rock & Republic jeans on Saks.com that i wanted even more. They are on sale for $161 USD (They retail $295 in Toronto)

So have you guys ever lost in a bidding war???? I wanna hear some stories! Oh yeah another time i lost a coach purse for a higher bid of dollar again! My aunt was pissed 'cuz it was for her!!!

Yeah, I've lost plenty of auctions, sometimes by .50$.If I really want it, I don't leave my computer. I sit at my computer until the very last minute.I have won many an auction because the highest bidder probably left their computer. Don't worry there will be another auction. In the meantime, I always say; "If it was meant for you to win, you would have one them." And they weren't really your size. Maybe you can find some brand new ones at the price you want. I've learned not to get too upset about it.

I always feel like I lose and it's the end of the world, but it hardly is. Why do we feel that way? The most memorable loss was a cute Coach wallet (via the Dial-Up days), but later got the same style for $50 with a Buy-It-Now!!! I still have not had a heartbreaking loss yet. You know that 1 item that you look for for ages, finally find and then bid too low? That's the beauty of ebay, I guess.

Yes, I have. I have this paranoia that it's a fake bidder going against me, so I refuse to go over a certain dollar amount. Then, I get sad that I lost my item. ;(

I just recently lost The Vixen Diaries book by Karrine Steffans. I really don't care though, and I'm happy I lost because I'm just going to go to the bookstore and save my money (I heard the book sucked anyways)

I am very new to this ebay business.

Yup..I've lost many times! The only time I got really upset was when it was a rack that had a bunch of pigments that I really wanted. I only lost by a dollar, so that's even worse. I've now learned to just be by the computer if it's something I have to have.

the other day I woke up extra early to place a bid within the last few minutes of the sale. I figured I'd be the only one up so early, and thought I could get the thing within the last 6 minutes. I was sadly mistaken. And ebay just makes you feel so much better by sending you 3 messages telling you that you were outbid and lost the item.

I know! They so overkill the "haha, you lost!" thing. If it's something I REALLY want and it's the last few minutes, I'll open 2 windows with the auction on them. One I just refresh repeatedly to check the price. The other I go ahead and preset with a higher bid so all I have to do is click to confirm if someone outbids me. Yeah... I'm a little obsessive.

There's raaaaaaaaarely anything I want that badly, but I'm prepared if it happens!

Sometimes if i can, i'll stay by the computer & wait the auction out!!! Now i'm actually glad i lost that auction.......the whole used part of the jeans really didn't thrill me! Even though they were barely worn and i could get them dry cleaned.......its still $100 plus the $20 for shipping......forget it!!! But if anyone sees those jeans on a site let me know!!! I can't find them in any jean stores in Toronto!

I can't believe y'all!!! Sitting by the computer!?!? Please tell me you're using snipe services at least sometimes! Oh, and I just won a NARS Sin/Casino duo last week. I placed my snipe bid and went to the club. Addicted as I am, I did check my emails at the club and saw that I won (YESSSS!! $32.30, shipping incl.).

I only sit and wait if I happen to catch an auction with not much time left. I am one of those people who sit with a crazy ass number in the price box, about 2 minutes left on the auction, and waiting until the last seconds to press 'Enter'.

And, you know what I really can't believe? An auction that starts at $1.99 and a person who actually bids $1.99! I almost want to shake the hell out of them and ask, "Why?!?!? Do you really think you'll win it for $1.99!??!!??!".

LOL. I just lost a bid on eBay like.. 2 weeks ago, or so.. I was bidding for the MAC traincase.. I found it for $70 (retail $225) so yeah, I was bidding against this other eBayer, and it was probably seconds away.. and he/she won for 1 dollar !!!!! $125 plus $10 shipping.. which wasn't bad at ALL!! I was soooooooooo sad and pissed, because I was already thinking ,how I was going to organize all my makeup in the case.
Well, the very next day, I went to MAC and I bought it.. I said.. "F*ck it! baby gets what baby wants!" LOL and I don't regret I got it, I'm very happy with it!

Yeah, I get outbid often.

I recently was outbid for a case I really wanted by less than $1.00 (I didn't have access to a computer); the worst part is that the winning bidder didn't pay for it and instead of the seller offering it to me as a second chance offer, she re-listed it and sold it for about $15 less than I had originally offered.

I lost on a Nokia L'Amour collection cellphone that can't even be found in the US. I was FURIOUS. I lost by like, $5. I could've killed! I also recently lost on a handbag that retails for $500. On Ebay it sold for $170. I missed it by $20.

I always use esnipe and it's never let me down. I just enter my bid on the site and forget about it until the auction is over. It's not free, but I believe there are other sniping services which are - sorry I'm not sure which.

I don't know if it will make you feel any better about missing out on your jeans, but you maybe didn't really just miss out by just one dollar. You can't tell how much the winning bidder was willing to pay, so it just looks as if you could have won them by bidding $1 more.

The winner might have entered a bid of up to say $150 but as your maximum bid was $99.45, $100.45 was enough to beat you. Had you been willing to pay more, so would they. I hope that makes sense!
