Expected experience?

What do counters (MAC or otherwise) expect their employees to have for experience?

Like, just doing amazing make-up on themselves and friends. Or do they expect you to have completed classes, art school, or anything of that sort.

From my personal experience with MAC interviews you don't need formal cosmetology school or art school to get hired, though I'm sure it's an added plus if you have. Retail experience is a definite plus, though I had none...haha. You definatly need to show that you have skill and the ambition to further your skills with the product. When they asked about my experience with it I told them that I'd been playing with makeup since I can remember, did alot with my dancing and stage makeup, and practiced on my friends and mom.

HTH!

I had tons of fine art experience, but had only been doing makeup for a few months & had 2 weeks of real retail experience when I was hired...but I think I'm a rareity.
