Eye Brush Advice

Hi there,

I am just getting back into the whole makeup thing after a brief hiatus and I'm trying to get my MAC stock back up.

I mostly focus on the eyes and am just looking for other's opinions.

What do YOU consider your most valuable brush? Do you like any other brands besides MAC?

I currently have 209 Eye Liner Brush, 224 Tapered Blending Brush, 255 Small Angle Brush, and 217 Blending Brush. Looking to add to my collection.

Thanks for the input!

i love brushes from shu uemura and hakuhodo.
Hakuhodo brushes are pricewise, on par with mac [but prices will go up starting jan 1, 2012] but the quality is much better.

shu uemura brushes are quite expensive, especially the kolinsky ones, but definitely worth it. i like natural 10, and 5r.

as for mac, my must haves from Mac are 217 and 138...

hth :)

other great brush brands are Trish McEvoy, Paula Dorf, Laura Mercier, etc. :)

I LOVE my MAC brushes, but that's not to say that there aren't some great alternatives out there.

I have had good luck with Sigma's brushes, which always seem to be marketed as cheaper dupes for MAC. Although I would not call them dupes for MAC brushes, they are great as backup brushes to some of your MAC favs or to jump start a good brush collection.
I got a good basic Sigma brush set when I was first collecting MAC brushes, so I could slowly replace the Sigma versions with MAC as I was financially able to. And I still reach for my Sigma counterparts when I travel and when a loved MAC brush is dirty.

Sigma has a new Vegan brush line out that is getting really great reviews. Check them out. sigmabeauty.com

As for MAC brushes... My MOST used and LOVED are the 217, 222 (which is being DC, but you have the 224 which is very close, just fluffier), 213, 228, 183 (for my MSF Natural), 226 (LE but has been repromted recently), and the new 286 (which is marketed with the new Mineralized Eye Shadows, so if you use those, this may be a great brush for you too), 116 (for blush)
The Duo Fibre brushes are on my Wishlist. I have the Sigma versions, but the MAC ones are nice!
