eye exam

I think my eye exam (including the cost of a contact fitting) was under $100 at Wal-Mart Vision Centers (many of them are independently owned, so it's worth looking into even if you are anti-walmart.) And I think just a "regular" eye exam (for glasses only) is under $50.

Once that's done, check out zennioptical.com for really inexpensive glasses. I knows dozens of people that now buy their glasses from them based on my rec and they can't believe what they get for the price. Full prescription glasses start at $8; full progessive bi-focals start at under $50.

Also, Wal-Mart Vision Centers have the cheapest price I've found on contacts and that's without buying multiple boxes at a time (like warehouse clubs and 1800contacts, etc.). Same contacts, better prices.

thanks. I need an eye exam since I only have one pair of contacts left. I will have to shop around for a good deal but I will call my eye place first to see how much they charge.

If you have an America's Best locally, try them. You can search at http://www.twopair.com . If you buy the contacts, your exam will be free.

where's a good place to get an exam?

Oh.... sorry. Other than AmBest, I dunno, because my next resort after them is my job's eye clinic, which is free for employees, but I'm in Atlanta. Even though you don't have insurance, your Human Resources department ( if you're working) may still have a place that they recommend for you. I'm not familiar with any other chains.
