Eyebrows!

Sooo I'm dying my hair this weekend! yay! I have used this color before and I like it a lot. Thing is, my brows really stand out cuz they're black. The new hair is going to be 2 shades lighter with a warmish tone, and the contrast to my brows is annoying. I was wondering, how would I lighten my eyebrows? I read in Imans Beauty of Color that you can do it at home with bleach for like one minute. I've also read about it in various beauty books, but I'm still not sure of how to go about doing it. Ideally, I would just dye my brows with the hair dye, but I know how dangerous that is and that at home dyes are NOT to be used on the face/brows or anywhere near the eyes. So, I figure I'd lighten them using bleach. Anyone have any tips or instructions? What were your experiences? TIA!

i agree with jjones, if you're really careful about it, you should be fine. you should never use bleach anywhere near your eyes because that will have the same effect as hair dye if your eyes come in contact with it, only bleach will hurt a helluva lot more.

if you choose you use the dye, when you rinse it off, make sure you place yourself to where the excess water will be running down your forehead instead of down your face. and rinse them really REALLY well

That's what I was thinking ladies, that it *might* be ok as long as you don't get any in your eye or around the lid area. I'll try dying 'em when I dye my hair on Sunday or Monday, and if they're not light enough I'll try a facial bleach or have a salon do them. Thanks for your suggestions!!!
Oh, my hair is going to be a golden brown color

Carmindy from What Not To Wear says use regular facial hair bleach and put it on your eyebrows for 10 MINUTES ONLY to lighten them

I did it all the time I loved my hair honey color but I eventually had to change my haircolor becuase my eyebrows grew back too fast. Heres another tip to get the dye off of your skin just pour some milk on a cotton ball and rub the area it works. Good luck

ok so I'm gonna do it (in like an hour lol) so just use a q-tip and apply it? how long shoudl I leave it for? I was thinking half the time becaue JJones said eyebrow hair takes the dye faster. What do you think?

My official, on the record answer would be to get it done professionally so you don't blind yourself.

My take-you-aside-in-the-back-alley-to-whisper answer would be that I never had trouble doing them myself with the dyes. I use a non-drip, masque-like dye, though(Garnier Nutrisse), so it doesn't drip down when it heats up. As JJones said, use a q-tip to apply the dye SPARINGLY, leave the dye on for 10 minutes.
To remove it safely: Wipe the eyebrows with a dry piece of tissue first, then use a moist tissue to wipe it away. Then use a shampoo or face soap(I use Philosophy's Purity Made Simple to wash it away) to wash away the rest. Then I use a witch hazel toner to wipe away anything left over(usually nothing, but to be safe..).

By the time you're done doing this, your hair is normally ready to rinse. So, it all works out.

Biggest advice is just BE CAREFUL.
