yesterday some of the mac girls and i were talking about our eyeliner pet peeves.

i HATE when people put on liquid liner and it does not touch the lashes at all, like there is a space of blank skin in between the lash line and the actual liquid liner line.

does that make sense?

what about you guys?
what are you eyeliner pet peeves?

Well, recommendations probably isn't the best place for this thread...but I don't know where it would go. Cosmetics discussion maybe?

Anyways. I dislike when people are wearing liner and it has melted and turned into nasty black goo accumulating in the inner corner of their eye. They don't seem to notice (or care) that it detracts from an otherwise lovely makeup look.

I hate that. I always have to check to see if my makeup looks ok. I hate when e/l is not straight. It distracts from the look.

The rock-skipping look...warm that pencil up before you use it!

The eagle's wing...a la Amy Winehouse....

No liner at all. It works on a lot of people, but not everyone. It completes the look for me.

Liner just like the shadow....My manager does this and it looks like the liner is an accumulation of shadow at her lashline. Find some Nightfish, or something!

I hate it when people just put liner on the bottom and none on the top. Not on the waterline.. Like below the lashes. I know someone that does this and it just looks like her liner has smudged and gotten stuck in her lashes. Poor girl.

I HATE that!!! One of my boyfriend's nurses practically lines her crease, to be fair it's more like the halfway point between her lash line and her crease and it look awful!!! I'm always want to pull out my liner and fill in the space, the line itself would be atrociously large but better than having it "float"! I'm always tempted to ask her if she confused her liner for her shadow, I really can't figure out what she's doing.

I hate that rock-skipping look but don't even get me started on the Amy Winehouse look -

I think this depends on the shape and contour of the eye - for some people wearing liner on the waterline essentially "closes" their up - it makes them look like they have very small and/or very narrow eyes, and for these people under the lashline only really opens their eyes up and gives a more flattering appearance.

I think it really comes down to knowing what is right for your eyeshape - some people do get it very wrong...LOL!!

Well I guess it's all a matter of opinion.. I think it looks.. maybe.. "bare" if you are doing like a smokey look and you don't line the waterline. I don't know.. maybe my taste is all in my mouth!

Not necessarily. If you're talking about a smokey eye, that's one thing. I'm generally speaking of my everyday, work look.

Sorry I guess I just assumed if you are smudging shadow below your lashline.. that would be kind of smokey.
