Eyeshadow brands that suck.

I'm curious, and perhaps this has been previously discussed - but if not, are there any cosmetic brands where you just can't stand their eyeshadows? Drugstore or High end - doesn't matter, you just didn't like them, and would purchase them again.

I'm trying to branch out from MAC - and basically become a little more open to drugstore brands, as well as some of the other higher end brands, and would like a heads up so money isn't wasted!

Mind you, I haven't used their e/s in years, but last I remember, BeneFit's were horrible. Chalky and dry, with crappy pigmentation.

If you wanna try a good, cheap brand of e/s, try NYX. If you want a good, expensive brand, try a NARS duo. I have Tokyo. It's v. pretty.

Thanks! Actually I was just on NYX's website the other day looking at their shadow, they have some GREAT colors, but I just couldn't pay the shipping - I need to go to the Outlet mall, because they apparently carry it.

I've heard some great things about NARS, and I want to try their shadows, I'm going to have to splurge. I deserve it right?

I never cared for Maybelline. The color payoff wasn't great.

Bonne Bell- Same reason

I wasn't too impressed with Clinique, either.

My favorites are Jane, Hard Candy, Milani, and Urban Decay

You know, I've been hesitant on buying Maybelline because I think I remember from years ago not having much luck -- and as far as Clinique goes, I'm glad I'm not the only one that isn't too impressed! I can't seem to get decent color payoff at all, which is too bad because they really do have some pretty colors.

There are two clinique duo's that I adore though, Beach plum (I pack that stuff on!) but I love the color combo, and I can't remember the other one, but it's a neutral duo, and the color payoff is GREAT for some reason with that one.

I'm going to try Jane again, haven't used 'her' in years - but I always liked it!

**thanks you guys -- I just get so excited when I see all those brands and colors - it's hard to choose! **

I haven't tried them in a few years, but clinique always kind of sucked as far as eye shadows go.

I love my urban decay shadows the most.

I've never really been happy with Rimmel, Maybelline, or Cover Girl...all the powder ones at least. Streaky, and defintely not pigmented enough.

Sephora's new line of eyeshadows are really silky though!

Totally agree!
maybelline put me off from trying other drugstore brands. It was just awful and I didn't care for it at all.

However, Milani e/s are great ($2.99 each) and the quality is fabulous! and of course, Urban decay rocks!!!

I've yet to try NYX e/s (no locations around me) but i've heard lots of good things about it too.

Next time I go to the Mall of America I'm going to have to try Sephora's eyeshadows. I looked at them before, but I hadn't heard anything about them, and if I can recall - aren't they on the cheaper end, pricewise, of department store brands?

I bought a few Rimmel ones when they were BOGO at Walgreens and I found out that they work best with the sponge tip applicator that it comes with - using a brush just didn't pick up any color!

Are there any specific Urban Decay? I have quite a few, but when I'm at Ulta I'm always swatching colors - for some reason I have a harder time buying them than MAC and they're only a few dollars more.

As for UD, my favorites are Vert, Last Call, Smog, YDK, Half-baked, & X. The ones that have very little, to no glitter are amaaaaaazing.

great! the ones i have all have a lot of glitter (ie: midnight cowboy, polyester bride...) and i really like them, but I should try some of their nonglitter ones too. I was looking at Vert today, it looks so pretty. I have Last Call, YDK and X and I really like those. Might have to go to Ulta tomorrow

I love Stila!! althou the colours are a bit limited. I also like Lancome althou I've only used the shadows from the gift with purchase

As for drug store brands I think it's a bit of a hit and miss, and by that I mean the lines are never consistent. I do however like some shadows from L'oreal, Annabelle (Canadian brand)

HTH

I just realized I didn't list any brands that sucked LOL Hmmm, I think Rimmel shadows are a big thumbs down, they just look chalky all around...

Maybelline is the worst of the worst except for the cream eyeshadows when they're layered with another better powder eyeshadow.

i always liked covergirl, wet them and they'll give you awesome color payoff
l'oreal has the most powdery, grainy eyeshadows, i hate them
