Fake Lashes

I bought some fake lashes today and would like some tips on applying them.
I guess my main questions are...do you put mascara on your own lashes and then put the fake ones on?
Do you curl your lashes before or after the fake ones are on?
Any tips would be great

I always curl and apply mascara after I have put them on. I don't know if that's right or what most people do but...
