I usually stick to one or two-color looks, but i love the richness of using more than that, when i see you ladies on here do it. so i'm trying to branch out, but i'm having trouble making it look right.

I would really like some blending critique and recommendation. When I 'blend blend blend" sometimes the colors just mush together so there is no definition, or if i don't blend enough they are too choppy. any comments would be helpful!

I don't have any advice, I actually have the same trouble too lol!

About half of the time a look will work out that I'm trying to do. I get all excited, but when I try to do it another day it just doesn't work, and the colors blend together all mushy too!

Hi great FOTD! I truthfully think about 90% of it is practice. I cant believe the difference my blending has come over the past few months. I hated when ppl would tell me to practice because I wanted the secret answer that only the great blenders knew lol, good brushes make alot of difference and different textures of eyeshadows can sometimes blend better etc. but mostly is practice and you will be really amazed at how much better you will get with more time and practice! good luck and I hope we see more of your fotds!

Thanks girls! I guess I have seen some improvement since when I first started on this mission of developing my blending skills. I can just wait and see. I also notice that I tend to "fail" more when I choose colors that are very different from each other, I guess because unblended stuff is more noticable. When I choose three or four colors that are all variations on one color (like browns, or pinks) that is MUCH easier.

I did recently get a sephora eye brush kit and that has really helped. It has this one short stiff wide brush that is FABULOUS for applying pigment. it's much less messy and really puts a lot on there, and it's specific. before i was just getting sheerness a lot and wondering why.

i think what has helped me the most is being on here, reading your tutorials, and mostly looking at all of your work. it really gives me ideas and helps me move in the right direction. yay specktra!

i think that's really pretty and adding mascara and liner would complete it and make everything POP and enhance the pigments even more!

ITA,.. Don't be afraid to use some liner or a little touch of color on the bottom lid also,.. you have really lovely eyes,.. don't be afraid to bring them out more!

Those colors look really pretty! I knew I'd be kicking myself for not getting any of the she-shines!

Thanks again everyone! I did that look late at night, just for blending practice! So i had day-old mascara on, and i didn't want to take it off, put on a new coat, only to take that off for bed again. So that is old mascara with a few layers of pigment dust on them. Normally those lashes would look nicer -- I HOPE!

I have been trying to experiment with a lash curler, but i think the revlon one i got doesn't fit my eye because it pinches, or it doesn't grab the lashes at all, or when i seem to get it right, no curl happens.

and as far as liner goes, I'm totally clueless!

I find that it helps me to work in layers. I put on a layer of eyeshadow, blend it and then if I want a bit more intensity, I add another layer of the same shadow and blend again!

I would rec. first using an eyeshadow base so the colors last longer (god knows I should take my own advice right...I usually just use some concealor and my eyeshadow is like gone by the end of the day lol!) - and then like the other ladies mentioned practice makes perfect! Look at the application of a look you like and try to replicate it in the mirror. Also I see you didn't use any liner here...I find liner really pulls the whole look together (although sometimes you can opt out for a more natural or soft look) but in general I prefer a liner....you know when you outline something in a picture how the contrast makes the color brighter? Thats sorta what I feel liner does...also mascara is your friend...so make friends with a brand you like!

thanks delphi. i was using the shadestick as my base. is that not considered a base? but to be honest, i haven't yet found a base that doesn't crease on me. i not only have very oily lids and face, but i'm living in a very humid climate! neither paints, shadesticks, nor l'oreal decrease keep the crease away. what works the best/longest for me is loading on powder first, but this doesn't give the more vibrant color that shadesticks will impart to shadows layered over them. i have yet to try urban decay primer potion. that is next on my list.

and i'll have to try this eyeliner idea!

i wore it a lot in high school and then stopped because i usually do opt for the soft and natural look. in fact, i don't even own a usable black eyeliner.

mascara IS my friend. just not in the above picture (as stated, late night etc)

thanks SO much everyone. i'll have to do a new one soon.

Very Nice! The blending is pretty good you just need some more practice. I agree with everyone else that liner and mascara would definitely make the look finished and even some lipliner. Otherwise u did a great job and you have very nice brows.
