Okay so about two weeks ago, I finally grew some cahones and applied @ my local mac counter…. I didn’t hear back (plus it was right before the Sundressing Event so I know the manager was super busy).. And HE JUST CALLED ME. We have an interview @ 1230p on Thursday. Im so nervous and concerned and feel so unprepared, etc. I felt confident, but after reading posts here, etc, I don’t know NETHING!!

There is so much I don’t know…… Im a complete newbie (he knows that) other than having random makeup parties, doing making for friends special events, etc. But I don’t do it on a super regular basis, I don’t have a good brush set, I don’t.. I dunno, Im just doubting myself so much, ya know? I just don’t think that I have what it takes. I mean I am CONFIDENT that I can DO makeup.. I love it, I live and breathe it, etc. But I just don’t think that Im close to being ready to actually work @ a counter. But OTOH, how ELSE can I get experience, ya know?? I dunno… Im just gonna be as ready as I can and see what happens. And Im gonna read around here to find out what to wear, etc. Whew….

Don't worry...take a deep breath! You will be fine. I had even less experience than you with makeup when I applied and got the job. Just be super professional, personable and enthusiastic. Show them that you have people skills. I think I mentioned this on a post before, but I had a senior trainer and manager tell me that makeup skills can always be taught, personality can't. They don't expect you to be a top notch makeup artist...that really comes in time.

Like I've also probably mentioned before on another post, wear trendy black, have kick-ass makeup done and be well groomed.

Good Luck!

You can do it....of course you will be nervous, but like others said: It's your personality that matters! I sucked at my demo interview but I tried to make professional but casual conversation, and I tried to let them see how much I love doing makeup and MAC especially. Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thx guys..! The spoken interview went pretty good. I think I was a little wordy on a few questions but over all it was okay. Ive been really thinking about it.... I SERIOUSLY want to do this but I know I prolly wouldnt be able to quit my 'real life' job as a paralegal right away, especially since Im getting ready to buy a place, etc. I guess that Im kinda 'secure' in this position, plus I have some seniority. So I guess my biggest concern is if mac is a SURE thing... Ive always been a 9-5 kinda girl... if that makes sense. I dunno. I guess I just have to wait to see if I get hired FIRST (I was gonna do part time in the evenings.. which is also a concern cuz *p00f*, there goes my free time...) then decide if I wanna take the chance. Or either just tell the guy that (this is allllll based on me getting hired of course) I would like to just freelance. I dunno... really just kinda talking to myself here to get my thoughts outta my head. :) thx again..
