Attached is a picture of my first ever haul. This is pretty much my first makeup purchase ever. I bought an Estee Lauder lipstick once and occassionally used some random free eyeshadow samples my grandmother gave me. Since finding this forum I finally got some inspiration/confidence as to what products to buy and what might look good on my Asian face.

I got:

Urban Decay e/s Primer Potion
MAC Fluidline: Blacktrack
MAC Vanilla Pigment off Ebay
Bobbi Brown Bone and Black Plum also off of Ebay
Revlon Foundation--I tried a MAC one but it made my skin to oily
MAC Select Coverup Concealer
3 NARS blushes: Cactus Flower, Madly, Sertao
MAC MSF Natural - Dark
MAC Freckle Tone Lipstick
MAC Love Nectar Lustreglass
5 MAC e/s Beauty Marked, Rice Paper, Gleam, Honesty, Tempting
1 MAC e/s Mystery to use for brows and liner

I'm still totally new at this and would love any pointers to your favorite technique threads or other sites with tips on basic makeup application. I'm open to books too if any of you have any good reccomendations. I got a decent brush set from Sonia Kashuk so besides an eyeliner brush I am set up decently in that area.

Thanks for all of your guys advice and posts--I'm excited to play with this stuff!

You got some great stuff. Way to go! As I'm sure you know from reading, UDPP, Vanilla piggy and the eyeshadows you got are considered staples for many of us!

I LOVE TEMPTING! And I'm a huge fan of the MSF Naturals.

Enjoy the loot, girl. And start posting some FOTDs!

As for technique goes, this is how I do my simple daily face:

1. Select Coverup Concealer where needed (Nosewings, spots, under eyes) I use NC30

2. MSF Natural buffed all over face, I like the natural coverage it gives

I used medium dark

3. Blush on the apple of my cheeks and up to the temples, well blended! And you bought some great shades

4. Primer, I use a shadestick. But only because I can't find the UDPP here! ; ;

5. Eyeshadow. In the morning I don't have much time, so I just use one color all over the lid, tempting is great for that. If you have more time take one of the lighter shades (gleam, honesty) on the lid, and use the darker shades (beauty marked, tempting) well blended in the crease. Careful with beauty marked though.

6. Highlight. (Vanilla, ricepaper) Sometimes I just use ricepaper all over the lid and browbone when I'm really short on time. Ricepaper is such a beautiful subtle color!

7. Mascara and eyeliner. I only line my upper and lower waterline.

8. Lipgloss or lipstick, or both, and I'm all done

LOL simplycathy, that sounds kind of like me, right down to the part about inspiration for Asian skin. Just wanted to let you know that you've served to fuel my resolve to save money (poor struggling student with less-than-stellar spending habits here!) so that I can go on a happy hauling spree too.

Enjoy all your new toys!

Very nice haul for a first timer!

I think you've got yourself some fantastic staple products. When I first started out wearing make-up (many light years ago, lol) I used neutral and natural colors and as I got better applying it, I slowly worked my way up to using colors and utilizing different textures and techniques. You will find yourself gradually becoming more confident in your skills. Enjoy your goodies and I hope to see a FOTD from ya!

you have some GREAT stuff there to play with. Those are pretty useful and never go wrong colors. Madly will look great as everyday blush, the e/s are good choices to make your eyes pop in natural way, and with the trendy and pretty nude lips(freckle tone w/ Love Nector on top). i would love to see ur FOTD

I also love Revlon's ColorStay and Age Defying light foundations. MACs are too heavy for me.

you have some awesome stuff!! great purchase for your first makeup haulage!!! You'll love freckletone. That's my fave, it's my everyday l/s since it's so neutral. And the NARS blushes are awesome! The e/s you got are soo nice, gleam and honesty are some of my faves, very nice for the everyday neutral look. I normally use gleam for a light wash over my entire lid when I am lazy but it looks really nice.

Can't wait to see a FOTD from ya! Enjoy your new stuff and welcome to the addiction! lol = )
