can anyone recommend a good one? Ive tried the Mac one and dont like it and am currently using Guerlain Pure Radiance which is lovely but I only like it cos it has gold in it

Do you mean a foundation primer? If so, what are you hoping to accomplish with the primer? Longer-lasting wear? Color-correction? Brightening? The end-goal will determine which products would work best.

sorry - I didnt realise there were so many different types!! Im looking for something that will make my foundation longer wearing x

NARS. Their primer is so fantastic. No silicons or anything, so it won't fill in fine lines, but it keeps my mineral makeup on throughout the day in the summer, and I sweat like a mother, haha.

As a base I like Le Blanc Universel de Chanel, if you can get a sample of it. Or YSL's Complexion enhancer.

Yes, the NARS primer is very good for this. Make Up For Ever also makes some very nice primers, if you aren't looking to color-correct I'd suggest going with the neutral primer from them.
