Foundation Blues....

Does anyone have trouble with using studio finish matte and fix pressed powder and breaking out? The MA said that the foundation is a water base which it also says online. But ever since I've tried it I all of a sudden broke out!!! In the past I have had issues with acne but I am on proactiv and it is great! I love the look of the sheer finish the foundation gives me. But do you think its causing me to break out? Would you ladies suggest another type by MAC to try?

thanks!

it might just be that you didn't have to work as much to remove your prior foundation, so now that you're using this, you're not washing it all the way off...and that might be causing you to break out.

but try the studio tech. it's amazing

i think since i've started using it, my face has broken out less.

if you haven't yet, try the green gel cleanser too...its made my face quit breaking out as well

Are you suggesting studio tech because it is a water blend?

I do wash my face every night with proactiv and I always make sure its off. hmmmm....

Thanks for the studio tech suggestion.

I broke out horribly from studio fix. it took me 2 month with a lot of skin care to get rid of it.
now I use maxfactoer lasting performance, or studio fix liquid.

I reccomend not to used studio fix on a daily basis

I agree, with MAC foundations you really have to wash your face well.

I use a face brush because washcloths just dont get it, when I washed my face with a washcloth with SFF I broke out big time. Then I switched up my routine and its all clear.

I personally think that the Studio Finish Matte is much lighter but it is still heavier than other water based foundations.

Studio Tech is really thick its a cream foundation so it just depends no what coverage your looking for.
Select SPF 15 has a lighter coverage IMO than Studio Fix and Studio Tech so maybe you can get a tester of that and try it?

You might want to wait for the Studio Mist to come out it might be lighter and more sheer.

a lot of people have issues with studio fix. for me, i gotta keep my foundation brushes CLEAN, no matter what i'm using, like at least once a week or i'ma have serious issues. that said, with studio fix, since it has that little sponge applicator, try using it only with a brush, since sponges breed more bacteria, leading to breakouts. or change the sponge frequently.
hmm. i used select spf maybe 3 times a week, and top it off with studio fix, and i don't have any difference in breakouts. i'm pretty acne-prone too, and my skin responds to different things when i first time them, so why not give it time and see if those changes make a difference? i think maybe your skin is just reacting to the difference product, if anything.

yeah its pretty tough. I mean, I love how sheer the look is and it evens out my skin tones. But the breaking out is totally freaking me out. As for the studio fix Ive always use a brush and not the sponge. As of now this is day 2 of not using any type of coverage other than concealer.

So Im stuck. Id like to see if my skin could adapt but then again I dont want it to get any worst.

A lot of people have trouble with this foundation. It has algae extract in the Studio Fix liquid which can irritate acne or even clear skin and make you break out. That's what happened to me. My skin is fairly clear and looked horrible after using it for a few days. I recommend something different, possibly not any of MAC's foundations.

Select SPF broke me out, too, and it's water-based. It sort of broke me out while I wore it, not afterwards.

I've heard a lot of negative things about the MAC foundations. I'm not sure what in their formulation is different, though. I've heard great things about Nars, but it's pricey.

Studio Fix broke me out, also. I switched to True Mineral powder and have had better results.

The only real foundtion I've tried of MAC's is Studio Fix and I used it for a good 2 months and it just broke me out, which made me mad because I did like it. My skin is not oily, more combo, but very sensitive. I can use their powders though, like now I use Blot Powder Loose and pressed and have no problems whatsoever, and I also use Invisible Set Powder sometimes. I just put concealer on my spots, top it off with Loose Blot or Invisible Set and then that's it. It's plenty of coverage for me. I touch up with Blot pressed during the day.
So I think just keep trying different products til you find what's best for you.
