hey there!
im sorry if this question was already posted but i couldnt find it.
im looking for a good foundation brush.
i bought a quite a "cheap" one a few weeks ago but it is awful! i guess its to soft or something... it just leaves stripes on my face and doesnt blend at all.... it is just horrible. -.-
so can someone please recommend me one? i live in austria so i dont have most of the brands so many of you talk about. i just have the stuff like: mac (no pro), benefit, and then the typical ones like dior, guerlain, chanel, estee lauder, etc
everything here in austria is about twice as expencive so a brush here would cost about more than twice as much it does in the usa. thats why im asking if you can tell me a good one... but maybe one that costs a little less than 50 euros

if not... which mac foundation brush is worth the money?

big thx for all the posts in advance

For powder or liquid fondation?

190 is GREAT for liquid. If you want something that can do both and give an air brush look I highly, highly recommend the 187. If you can splurge on a brush I'd say do it on the 187. It's good for liquid, powder and cream formulas. If I were to be stranded on an island and can only take one brush it would be the 187. I have two. One for my liquid studio fix and another for my powder foundations/blush. It blends everything well, and as I said it really has a 'airbrush' look.

Take the 187!
It is worth its money. I know it is not cheap for us here in Europe, but take it.

I totally agree with Miss Supra, the 187 is wonderful. I actually use both the 190 and the 187. I don't wear liquid foundation everyday, usually I just use concealer and then powder over top with the 187 (like in Kevyn Aucoin's Making Faces Book!) but on days when i need a little extra coverage, or when I'm on stage and I use liquid foundation I apply the liquid with the 190, and then my powder with the 187.
Understandably MAC brushes are quite steep, but Sephora has a foundation brush that's almost exactly the same as the 190. Maybe you can order it online. I'm not sure if they do international shipping, but you could definitely give it a shot!
You could also try some of the brushes at The Body Shop. I remember seeing one in Salzburg, so I know they're in at least one city in Austria! I'm not totally sure on the quality on their brushes, but I'm sure a quick search on Specktra will yield some reviews.
Good luck!

ok thanks so far. i guess i will still stick on to the 190 cause i actually need one for the liquid foundation. but after all of you raving about the 187 i guess i will have to check that one out too

the price is really mad though -.-
i checked specktra on the body shop brushes and found two matching threads: the funny thing is, that in the first one: about 90% say that they are really good.... and then in the other one, 90% seem to hate them! just the thread with the "hate-mails" is quite long =/ so i guess ill skip on those. im scared the result will be the same one as so far with my "marionnaud" brush ^^

btw: does any one of you know how the benefit brushes are??? i mean like the foundation brush? i bought myself a set of brushes about a month ago, and its so strange... cause on the one side: theyr really quite good and everything.... but then the blush brush... seems to loose hair when i sweep it on my cheeks. its so odd... dont know if the (liquid) foundation one would be worth a try...

187 works for liquid too, I'd get that one because it's multi purpose and blends so well, I have heard from many others the 190 looks streaky for liquid foundation.

i adore both brushes.

i love the 187 more because it's so multi-functional and it's my favorite brush. between the 187 and the 188, i have 2 of each.....it blends like a dream.=P

i love the 190 as well. i've heard people having problems with this brush with streaking but i haven't had any problems. as long as you use short strokes and blend, the foundation will not look streaky on your face. i think people have problems because they use long streaks and less amount of blending when using this brush.

i know the price for the 187 is steep, and that's what i thought too before i bought one. i can't live without it.

. To avoid getting streaky with it, you can "stipple" your foundation on. Like, get a bit of liquid foundation on the end of the brush and then tap it over and over again to your face. So instead of dragging the brush around (which I don't like to do anyway, I feel like I'm being rough with it), you can just tap it all over your face, it makes an amazing finish.

187 is fantastic for liquid foundations and powders, 190 for cream foundations and pressed powders, the 109 for buffing cream foundations on to your skin as well as the kabuki brush for cream foundations and loose mineral foundations.
