Foundation for Olive complexion???

Hi I have an olive complexion with golden undertones, and normally would say fall into the nc40 colour range...but I find in my pics look a little off. My face seems greyish even though my body looks fine, and I find my face is still greyish ruddy....

Am I possibly using too much foundation?
Too little?
Wrong colour?
Wrong formulation? (currently using studio fix fluid)

or something else??? any recs or suggestions.

so did you find that the MAC one's didn't suit you as well?...

Also Mzreyes and N.C., what shades are you in the Lancome?

From MAC I tried Studio Fix powder, but sadly broke out from using it...loved it. I also tried SFF but the consistency was too thick imo.

In Lancome's Adaptive formula I wear Balanced Beige 4... HTH!

Try the Live Chat! They are usually very helpful! It's surprising how much they can tell you without even seeing you haha!

i really like Laura Mercier's Moisturzing Foundation. it comes in a pump and you only need 1 1/2 pump for your whole face.

I believe Studio Fix contains mineral oil, so it really shouldn't be used on people with oily/acne prone skin. I have normal to oily skin, and I broke out from it as well.
I find that MAC's sheer pressed powder works fabulously. In terms of foundation, I go for Laura Mercier's Oil Free Foundation. Stick to foundations/powders with golden undertones.
It might also help if we could see a picture, if you don't mind posting one.

I have a light complexion with a very strong olive undertone (I'm Philippine and Italian) and I was matched as NC25 at MAC. Yes, NC is matched for olive complexions. However, I look like a sick wicked witch of the west with this color on (In Studio Fix Fluid). If it's truely the right color for me then MAC Foundation is NOT for me.

The studio fix powder looks ok but it really makes me look pale in photos so I'm looking for a new powder too.

I find that the C shades from MAC are best for my yellow/olive complexion.

If you're interested in mineral makeup, Everyday Minerals and MAD Minerals have olive colors. I think Meow cosmetics does too.

Trucco's Skin Tones foundation is great for olive or yellow skin as well, it's very very blendable and wears really well.

as for the formulation, it depends on the type of coverage you're looking for, the type of finish, and what type of skin you have.

as for color, you'll want and c (in studio fix) or an nc. go to your closest counter to get matched up.

mac doesn't use mineral oil in any product.

studio fix is actually a great foundation for people with oily skin because of the silica (oil absorber) and the finish it gives. its is not, however, the best foundation for pictures. it photographs a few shades lighter on everyone.

the bare minerals powders did the same thing for me so I started using "golden medium" and that tone is seriously so perfectly matched to my skin tone. i'm an NC30/35 on MAC studio fix.

I Have Olive Skinas Well, (italian/irish Girl Here) And I Find Pink Undertones Look Horrible Obvisouly, But When Wearing Yellow Undertones, I Feel It Doesnt Match That Great Either When Its On My Whole Face, So I Mix My Nc42 Select Spf Foundation ( A Littttle To Dark For Me) With My Maybelline Mineral Power Liquid (which Is Sort Of Too Pink For Me) And It Matches My Skin Great. I Feel Like I Need The Mixture Of Pink And Yellow For Some Reason.

Foundations that contain SPF tend to make the skin white/pale in photographs. Try a foundation that does not contain SPF - MUFE Face and Body, Laura Mercier Oil Free, Clarins True Radiance, Bobbi Brown Luminous Moisturizing are products which have a wide range of shades for olive complexions.

Since most MAC foundations contain sunscreen, try MAC Face and Body in C4/C5.

we have a shade called NC41 here in the UK.. n i used to wear NC40 but made me look a bit dead looking this has slightly more pink in it, that makes it look more natural and seems to make it just a TINY bit darker, see if they make that shade where you are, i hear it varies! i mean we have 44.5 here aswell hahah!
